  1. Psi-Ops is an action game with a twist: no longer do you have to rely solely on big weapons and explosions to progress through it - you also have the aid of psychic powers to take down army after army of enemy soldiers.
In the game you take the role of Nick Scryer, a secret agent who had his face reconstructed and mind wiped clean in order to infiltrate a growing psychic organization calling itself The Movement. Nick, however, is captured, but manages to free himself and continue his mission to stop The Movement, regaining his psychic abilities along the way.
The game mixes regular weapons with the weapons of the mind. You'll have access to a series of mind powers, such as Telekinesis (the ability to fling object and soldiers around), Pyrokinesis (the ability to set things on fire), Mind Drain (for draining Psi power out of foes' minds) and Remote Viewing (leaving your body behind and exploring the level).

  2. Although James Cameron's Avatar: The Game is named after the movie, the story itself doesn't follow the plot of the film. Instead the player takes on the role of Lance Corporal Ryder, a signal-specialist who is send to the distant moon Pandora. But Ryder isn't just any other soldier. Instead he or she is one of the selected group of people that take part in the so-called Avatar-program. Avatars are a hybrid of Na'vi DNA and human DNA that have been created in order to better interact with the inhabitants of the planet: the Na'vi, tribe-like and technology-wise not very advanced people that are one with nature. Although the Na'vi are friendly to the new-comers at first, soon the humans want more than just diplomatic relations. They want to relocate the Na'vi in order to be able to strip the planet of its natural resources. A war breaks out which only one side can win - it is up to the player which it will be.
Early in the game the player has to decide weather he wants to help the Na'vi unlock the power of the Well of Souls or if he wants to stay with the humans. Depending on his choice, the gameplay changes significantly:
Human: As a human the player can enter buildings, drive vehicles like buggies and helicopters and use full-body armor as well as several different kinds of firearms including shotguns and flamethrowers. In addition Pandora itself is against him meaning both plants and animals will attack the player but will also grant experience points. As a human the player can build pods that replenish ammo and health a specific locations. Na'vi: The Na'vi are more than two meters high and as such can neither enter buildings nor use humans vehicles. But Pandora herself is friendly so plants and animals won't attack (or give experience points for that matter) allowing the player to ride strange horses or fly around on huge dinosaur-like creatures. While the player himself is able to use a machine gun, normally the Na'vi rely on bows and arrows as well as strange swords and staves. If the player manages to pull of a five-hit-combo, a special attack comes available. Na'vi harvest plants in order to get arrows and cell samples. Both characters have in common, that they are controlled in a standard 3rd-person-shooter-fashion and have to collect DNA/cell samples. Once enough have been collected, the player gains the ability to get right back into the fight after his hit-points reach zero. Only if not enough samples have been collected will the player re-spawn at the nearest outpost. Also both parties earn experience points for completing quests and killing enemies. Once enough points have been collected, the character levels up and get's access to new weapons and spells allowing him to make himself invisible for example.
Pandora is divided into several sectors and each sector features several challenges like lifting 100% of the fog of war or collecting a certain amount of cell samples. Fulfilling these objectives grants additional experience points. To further help the player in his quest, a world-domination-mini-game is available at each transporter. This mini-game is turn-based and has the player starting out with only one sector and the goal of conquering all the other. Doing so will grant his character additional experience points, increase his weapons strength and such. Money for building bases and ordering troops on the other hand is earned by playing through the normal campaign. To conquer enemy sectors, three types of units are available that can only be build at a base. Combat is a simple numbers game and plays out automatically. To defend conquered sectors, a defense building for each type of unit can be build.
The game offers five team-based multiplayer-modes: King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Capture and Hold (capture control points in order to make the enemies team loose victory points) and Final Fight where the RDA has to protect three missiles in their base while the Na'vi have to destroy them.

  3. The majority of the game is taken up by third-person combat, usually on foot. At the start of the game the player can use four "combo" attacks. Additionally, they can use three basic magic attacks: magic push/pull (Thrysta Vindr), magic shield (Skölir), and magic fire (Brisingr). These three magic attacks can be utilised in different ways (for example, Brisingr arrows, or throwing spears in baskets magically). On the PC and console versions (excluding the Xbox 360 version) there are sixteen levels.
Some missions permit the player to use the dragon Saphira in combat. The gameplay mechanics within these levels are largely similar to those in ground-based levels, with the exception of some different attack moves (such as tail attacks). Protagonist Eragon sits on Saphira's back during these sections, and can be made to fire magic arrows. The player has no choice as to whether or not they use Saphira. Similarly, the player cannot use Saphira in ground-based levels: they can call for her and she will swoop past, but it is not possible to use this feature to ride Saphira. There is a multiplayer co-op mode which allows two people to play through the main storyline. It is possible to switch from playing a one-player game to a two-player game at any time. There are no Internet multiplayer options.

  4. You play Craig Willmore, a not-quite-rookie agent in the FBI’s Seattle Field Office. One day (April 2, 1996) an odd, snide bald man shows up and asks for Craig’s help. Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) is hot on the trail of two missing agents, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. Seems Scully and Mulder were last heard of three days before, when they checked into a Seattle-area motel to investigate a case shrouded, naturally enough, in mystery.
The X-Files game uses a new multi-platform engine called VirtualCinema, which is supposed to make you feel as if you’re inhabiting an X-Files episode. And while not perfect, as far as FMV games go, it’s definitely a step forward. Anyone who has suffered through live-action games featuring painful acting, cheap sets, lousy lighting, and endlessly repeating loops of film will appreciate the brisk pacing, multiple plot-lines, and attractive environments here.

  5. Jigsaw has killed your partner and destroyed your life. Now he has trapped you in an abandoned insane asylum that he alone controls. If you can defeat his brutal traps and survive, you may just discover the truth behind what drives this twisted serial killer.
SAW is a third-person perspective, survival horror game based on the SAW film franchise, which has grossed more than $665M worldwide and sold more than 28 million DVDs. The game features many of the deadly mechanical traps seen in the film, as well as terrifying new ones. Players will pit their wits against Jigsaw as they navigate his world in an attempt to evade and escape his gruesome traps, while also struggling against his minions in brutal combat by using weapons found within the environment.
SAW, the video game, is based on a treatment from Zombie Studios and the creators of the SAW franchise, Leigh Whannell and James Wan. The timeline for the game takes place between the movies: SAW and SAW II, giving the game its own story, yet fitting within the narratives of the movies. The story centers on Detective David Tapp who awakens in a decrepit, abandoned asylum. He has been captured by his longtime nemesis, Jigsaw. Obsessed with catching this serial killer, Tapp’s mission has consumed him and ruined his family, resulting in divorce, mental imbalance, and abandonment. Now Jigsaw has the upper hand and has captured the detective. Tapp must play a deadly game—the likes of which he has been investigating for years—to escape, and in order to do so he must survive the lethal traps and puzzles that Jigsaw has put in place for him and others. But each victim has a dark connection to Tapp. Will Tapp save them? Can he survive his obsession to find the Jigsaw killer?

  6. Wisecracks, satire and humor abound in this comical adventure of Simon, a young wizard known for his wit and sarcasm even in the face of disaster.
During a sibling quarrel, an accident happens and Simon's mind transcends into another dimension. There, he meets the lovely Alix, daughter of the wizard Calypso, who begs Simon to help save their world from an impending danger. Upon regaining consciousness, he realizes that he must return to that parallel world and do what he can. When he arrives he discovers that an impostor has taken his place and is causing havoc including causing Alix to distrust him. Who is this other Simon really and what does he intend to do?
At first, players take the role of Simon as they explore the various locations in this new world. As the game progresses, switching to another character is possible. There are a multitude of new people for Simon to meet and exchange dialog with, as well as some familiar faces. All characters are voiced and lip-synched in their graphic close-ups. Puzzles consist of standard adventure fare for which players must find inventory objects and solve character related problems. One cannot die, there are no timed sequences, and no labyrinths.
Graphics include two-dimensional backgrounds with fully-modeled characters. Original, electronic music plays in the background throughout. Controls are different in Simon 4 compared to its predecessor. Both mouse buttons control Simon's actions in a point and click system. Keyboard shortcuts are used only for several "quick" commands to access menus and the like. Walking short distances is problem-free since Simon runs by double-clicking the mouse. Travelling to the far reaches of the world is eased with the aid of an interactive map. The game also features an in-game hint system.

  7. Explore a side of the Smithsonian that you've never seen before in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Based on the Ben Stiller movie, gameplay takes the player from the New York Museum of Natural History to the campus of the Smithsonian. The spell of Ahkmenrah's magic tablet has brought the inanimate exhibits of the Smithsonian to life, and Larry must restore order to the chaotic museum. Players control Larry Daley (Stiller), who must retrieve the tablet of Ahkmenrah from the clutches of the evil Kahmunrah.
While basic movement mechanics (running, jumping, climbing) are used, major gameplay mechanics focus on the use of Larry's "ritual tools of office", his keychain and flashlight. These items are enhanced by the power of Ahkmenrah's tablet, which gives Larry new abilities. With the enhanced keychain, Larry can climb to greater heights, swing across wide gaps, and swing the chain quickly to create a shield. The enhanced flashlight will allow Larry to empower mechanical devices, repair broken objects, tame wild animals, and even summon lightning. Players will use these abilities to complete objectives across multiple museums.

  8. Based on the scripts of the 21st movie "Casino Royale" and the 22nd James Bond movie of the same name as the game, it follows closely the story of those movies but elaborates many scenes and fills in some blanks.
In a first person shooter fashion, the player directs Bond through the levels filled with many bad guys. To overcome those, Bond has several different kinds of weapons at his disposal ranging from his trusted P99 to machine guns and full blown grenade launchers. But the levels are also filled with canisters that either explode upon shooting or vent gas that temporarily blinds the enemy. Bond can also perform a take down move which puts an enemy out silently. If Bond is near enough to an enemy, a button press will initiate the corresponding mini-game in which the player needs to hit a circle with a crosshair in a short period of time. Is the player successful, the enemy is out of the play but when he fails to hit the mark in time, Bond will be thrown away from the enemy and is vulnerable for a short period of time. In addition Bond can duck into cover to avoid bullets and shoot blindly over it or look out of it to get the kill. Bond also automatically regenerates his health when not under fire.
Other obstacles in the levels are cameras, which can either be shot or disabled and electronic locks which need to be hacked in another mini-game. There arrows flash green or red on the screen and the player needs to press the corresponding button fast enough when it blinks green to input the right number into the keypad.
The game also features a multiplayer mode for up to 12 players with the following game modes:
Bond Versus: one player takes over the control of James Bond and either needs to defuse two of the three bombs in the level or kill all six of the opposing team. In this mode Bond can also see all enemies and has two lives. Golden Gun: the first player to score 100 points wins the round. Points are earned by kills but if the player is holding the always visible power weapon called "Golden Gun", he scores 6 points per kill. Bond Evasion: in this mode one member of the MI6-team randomly gets to be Bond and needs to get to the escape point of the map to win the round for his team. Meanwhile The Organization tries to stop him by either killing him or preventing him from reaching the escape points in time.

  10. Turok is a first-person shooter game set in the near future. There is no relationship with the previous games or the storyline from the comic books. The protagonist is Joseph Turok, a former member of Wolf Pack (the enemy in this game), but now a member of Whiskey Company. The mission that led to the events of the game was simple: find Roland Kane (leader of Wolf Pack, and Turok's former mentor) and bring him back to Earth. However, things turned ugly, as the ship was hit by a missile and crashed on the back-water planet. Even worse, it becomes apparent that scientists from the Mendel Gruman Corporation have been terra-forming the planet for accelerated evolution, resulting in dinosaurs hunting Turok, his allies, and his enemy. Joseph Turok's mission is to survive at all costs.
Gameplay is about surviving in dangerous environments with both human soldiers and dinosaurs. The dinosaurs can be used as a tool to eliminate soldiers by luring them. All weapons have secondary functions such as a flares to lure dinos. Turok can also choose a stealthy approach with arrows and his trusty knife, in the form of brutal kills. Online multiplayer is also featured, with all the weapons from the single-player game, and some maps have dinos and giant scorpions. The gameplay modes include classics like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and all-new modes borrowed from objective-based war games, such as Assault Capture the flag, and co-op missions. They all have a little twist to them, such as CTF putting a lure on the "flag carrier" that draws dinos to the player.

  12. The game is the sequel to The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, based on the motifs from J.R.R. Tolkien. The game's plot takes the player to the northern areas of Middle-earth, where Sauron's evil forces fought the forces of good. In principle, the game is divided into two parts: a campaign of good and evil forces. The first part deals with the elves and dwarves fighting against Sauron's forces on Esgaroth and Erebor. In contrast, the second part focuses on collecting army of goblins by Ombudsman Sauron to conquer northern parts of Middle-earth.
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II has received positive reviews from critics and is loved by players. There are fifteen different scenarios to go through! In addition, in the second installment of the game, the action also takes place at sea. The excellent combat system, unique music and amazing world make you lose the sense of time playing The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II!

  13. Beside the real world, there is also a parallel dimension called the Veil. Himmler's Paranormal Division knows about the Veil and has built several portals in Isenstadt to travel from the real world to the other, giving them an advantage in the battle over Isenstadt. However, in order to enter the Veil, one needs a special medallion, otherwise the trespasser shall turn into a monster upon his return to the real world. In addition, the medallion grants its wearer special powers. Naturally, the Office of Secret Actions can not allow the Nazis to get access to such powers and sends in their best agent: B. J. Blazkowicz. Although he manages to steal the medallion, the Nazis are already on the brink of being able to artificially create such a medallion in the lab. B. J. can't let them succeed and joins the fight.
Wolfenstein is a first-person-shooter that mainly consists of the player shooting his way through hordes of different types of Nazis, ranging from normal soldier to ninjas. To deal with the large amount of enemies, the player has access to many typical WWII-weapons like the German MP40 or K98 rifle. In addition, during the course of the game he finds the medallion and learns four powers. While at first entering the Veil only allows him so see enemies more clearly and use strange flying creatures as bombs, he is later able to slow down time, surround himself with a protective shield or make himself stronger. However, the medallion's powers drain its energy, which needs to be refilled at power-spots that are nearly invisible in the real world.
After each mission, the player is free to roam Isenstadt, talk to NPCs to get new missions and visit the Black Market. Intelligence material and gold are hidden in the levels. While the intel offers additional insights into the story and its characters, the gold is used at the Black Market to buy new weapons, ammunition and weapons upgrades like silencers or bigger clips. Collecting intel and gold unlocks additional upgrades.

  14. In the 90s "Tycoons" were very popular building strategies. They were focus mainly on traffic and normal life. One of the most original Tycoon game is Dinopark Tycoon and as the name suggests you have to build a theme park with dinosaurs. To build a successful theme park, you have to excell in several activities: buy dinosaurs, secure park fence, provide food, toilets, hire employees, set the right admission fees and maintain the park profitable. The game concept is very similar to Rollercoaster Tycoon, but with dinosaurs your responsibility and worries are increasing (you have to grow plants for herbivores and provide meat for carnivores, etc..).

  15. The most famous and most successful adventures are built mostly on two things: a nice cartoon graphics and great humor. The adventure game Sam & Max Hit the Road is no exception. Sam (the dog in the hat) and Max (rabbit with big teeths) are very well known cartoon character - two detectives who were created by Steve Purcell. In the game you directly control Sam, Max follows you everywhere and he can even be used as part of the inventory. In the game you handle the case where Bruno the Bigfoot is missing from the circus and you must find him. You'll travel across the United States, to address various logical and also illogical tasks and the whole game is all made in a very funny way. You move with your police car and new locations are being unlocked if you manage to solve the puzzles.

  16. If we talk about Batman and computer games, many of us can imagine some action games, where you fight your opponents. Batman Returns is an exception - this is an adventure game, where the main goal is to get evidence against Penguin. The game begins in your cave where you have a lot of gadgets (computers with a central database, safe with batman's suits and belts and also the famous futuristic car - the Batmobile). When you are done in cave and you took all the tech gadgets with you, you are good to go to the city, where riots broke out. Penguin's group is robbing people of Gotham, bribes city mayor and terorize the whole city. You will get into a direct fights with rioters, but you cannot interfere into these fights, you can just watch. Just press the button "Fierce" on the belt and just watch as Batman win the fight (and he wins every time). Unfortunately, this is the main problem of this game - you can finish the whole game in a few hours and it will be super easy even for beginner. The movie with the same name "Batman Returns" by Tim Burton deserved a better pc game.

  18. Contract JACK is another action game using Monolith's render engine. As you can see it uses the same as No One Lives Forever.
It also takes place in the same setting. Actually it takes place around the same time as No One Lives Forever.
The game is made more like a shooter than a spy game. Lots of enemies at one, and lots of ammo and shields to find!
It also picks up ammo from dead guys automatically. You don't need to manual search for it like Cate Archer.
Anyway, there are 7 chapters in this one, and they are pretty cool.
The youtube video shows you how direct the action begins!
To play the game. Just unpack the zip file and run the installer. It is a fixed version for widescreens as well.
Tested on Windows 10, 64 bit.

  24. One of the most successful sequel is Street Fighter 2, whose first part is known only thanks to this continuation. Street Fighter is fighting game Mortal Kombat style, where you can choose from eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Blanka, E. Honda, Zangief, Chun Li, Guile and Dhalsim. Then you have to fight the rest of them. If you can manage to beat the remaining seven characters, you go into the fights with four main bosses: M. Bison, Vega, Sagat and Balrog. Each of the participants of the tournament has it's own story and come from a different country. Each one of them has a different reason, why to participate and win the tournament. There is also a movie inspired by this game, but it has not been very successful.

  25. Mortal Kombat is a very well-known term to everyone who played fighting games on old computers. There have been a large number of sequels, although the name Mortal Kombat Trilogy suggests that this is the third part, or a compilation of previous titles, this is not the case. This is an improved version of Mortal Kombat 3, which contains everything that could be seen in previous parts of the trilogy, or in the game Ultimate Mortal Kombat. So it follows the same story as MK3, but contains all the characters and most of the arenas from the previous parts. You can play as Kano, Reptile, Mileena, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Sindel, Sketor, Stryker, Nightwolf, Sheeva, Kitana, Scorpion, Sonya, Smoke (Cyber Ninja), Rain, Jade, Baraka, Johnny Cage, Ermac, Noob Saibot , Sub-Zero (Unmasked), Sub-Zero (Classic), Jax, Rayden, Cyrax, Liu Kang, Smoke (Human), Kabal, Goro, Kintaro, Motaro, or Shao Kahn.
The novelty of MKT is the so-called "Aggressor bar", which is filled during the fight. When this "aggression indicator" is full, the player's character becomes stronger and faster for a short time. A new exit mode called "Brutality" has also been added. Among the novelties were completely new special moves for some well-known characters, which first appeared in MKT.
