Two-dimensional platformers and jumping games were the dominant feature of the early 1990s. By the end of the 90's, the platformers were no longer interesting and every new hit had to be 3D. At the same time, 2D platformers are one of the most fun games, but every time demands its own, so gaming companies have moved in a different direction. Fortunately, there are a few companies that have not forgotten about this genre, and in 1997 Claw is published.
The game tells the story of the pirate Captain Claw (claw), who is probably looking for the whole world, because a reward of a million gold coins is written for him. Even though he is caught, he manages to escape from prison. You take on his role and set out on a painful journey to find a mysterious amulet that has magical powers. The very character of the pirate in the game is clear that the story takes place in the past and the graphics of the game are adapted to this - corsairs, deaths, pirates with swords, dynamite, or some magic.
The game has a total of 16 levels, each of which takes place in a different environment and thus differs significantly in terms of graphics. The interesting thing about this game was the presence of multiplayer, and as one of the few games in those years, the game had its own page with the current ranking of the highest score. The Monolith company certainly took a risk when it released this game at a time when 3D action shooters were already flying, but I did very well, I think, because there were still enough players who knew how to appreciate a beautiful platformer.

Rough music, leather clothing, plenty of booze and sexy girls - these are the main characteristics of bikers, or at least how most people portray them. The game Road Rash is about motorcycles and playing this game you will... wait for it... confirm all these myths/ideas! In the game you will meet a bunch of people, who have quite a lot of money so they can afford to buy expensive and fast bikes, and their life are not very valuable for them. You will race in with fast bikes and believe me, this game is everything, but not a fair-play, the races are harsh.
Each time your opponent will try to overtake you, you can attack him (kick him, punch him,...) and tries to crash his bike. In real life, a fall at a speed of about 200km/hour would be fatal, but in the game is just a small crash, after a short moment you get up get back on the track. Road Rash contains 5 different tracks and offers 3 game modes: Trash mode (sit on the bike and at play), Big Game Mode (Championship, where you start as a beginner and you have to move to the top) and Mano-a-Mano Game Mode (multiplayer game over a network). Road Rash is not a traditional racing game, where bikers are fair, but the game has a great atmosphere, gameplay and catchy music.

Amulets & Armor is a mission-based adventure/RPG that runs on DOS. When starting a new game, you have a choice of several characters (called archetypes here) that range from warriors to ranged combat to magicians. After that, you can choose one of several missions that place you in various levels wit specific objectives. Between missions you can also visit other places: ‘Store’, ‘Inn’, and ‘Bank’. The Inn, which lets you rest to heal, has exorbitant prices and is such unusable. You can visit the Store to buy various things like weapons and potions, and the Bank lets you store any gold you’ve found – it’s useful since you lose a lot of your carried gold whenever you die.
The graphics in the game are atrocious by 1997 standards. It runs worse and looks far inferior to games such as Heretic, and in fact could be easily confused with a 3D title that came out sometime in the early 90s. The controls are slow and awkward, and don’t have any of the balance you expect from serious CRPGs, or the hectic violence found in mainstream 3D shooters. It’s a dull, dysfunctional blend of both worlds with little charm in between.

BeachHead 2002 is an arcade shooter where you, as a lone one army gunner, have to defend against waves and waves of soldiers, tanks, APCs, planes and helicopters that have the sole objective of swarming your position. You have an anti-aircraft (AA) gun as your main dispenser of grief amongst the infantry, an anti-tank (AT) gun for those pesky APCs and tanks (they can also take out barges), surface to air missiles (SAMs) to swat airborne threats, infrequent off-screen artillery support, and a .45 automatic pistol to… well, get to this point and it’s pretty much game over.

Sensible Golf is a game dedicated to a sport that does not need to be introduced - golf. The game had the same characters - similar to those previously used with great success in Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder, although after release it was considered a commercial failure and received rather negative reviews. Part of the problem was that it used the same game engine as Sensible's previous games, so it had to be designed as an arcade game rather than a serious golf simulation, which many critics said led to a reduction in its overall lifespan.

EF2000 is a simulator of the Eurofighter 2000 fighter aircraft. The game is set in a fictitious war conflict, when Russia is about to invade Europe and for this purpose creates strongholds in northern Europe (for easier progress of its invading troops). The individual battles will take place in the detailed modeled environments of the Baltics, Finland, Sweden, Norway and parts of Russia.

Warzone 2100 was one of the first in the line of 3D strategy games that started showing up at around the turn of the millennium. While the game’s concept is nothing new (a fight over a devastated world among armies that rely on the harvesting of a resource), its visual appeal and its clever interface are an achievement.
Warzone 2100 combines a trio of great ideas which free up time from unit production and let you dwell more on strategic decisions. First, factories can be ordered to construct a variety of units, and then told to churn them out in batches—including an infinite loop. Second, the game requires you to research your way through a tech tree, and one branch leads to Commander units. Assign units to Commanders, and they’ll work as a team. Each kill the Commander’s team gets, the more experience both they and the Commander rake in, and the more units the Commander earns the right to control. The third link: automatic repairing. Every unit can be set to retreat when heavily damaged, and if they have a repair bay to retreat to, they’ll go there.

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis was described by its publisher as a “world-builder”, something not seen a lot on consoles, but generally known as a “tycoon game” on the PC (think Zoo Tycoon or Theme Park). The game stands out particularly for its graphics processing - all characters and scenery are made of play dough. You control a play dough character named Klaymen. He must save the planet from the evil influence of malicious magician who tries to dominate Neverhood, so he could commit various evil things (classic adventure plot). At the beginning, you wake up in a small room and you must solve the first task - to get out of this room. The whole game is a combination of different logical tasks that you must complete before you can move on and believe me, this game si gonna torment your brain cells.
The puzzles are different from the easier ones, where you have to stack a certain pattern, through more difficult - where you have to assemble the mechanism, to the heaviest, which took me a few hours (if you don't have perfect ear for music, you will spend a lot of time in one of the houses). Perspective of the game is taken in two ways - when you're inside, you're looking at Klaymen from the side, from the 3rd-person perspective.
When you are outside, you look at the world with Klaymen's eyes. It is really a perfect adventure with the original graphics (everything you see in the game was created with about 3 tons of real play dough), and I highly recommend it to you to play it.

A 2D game, primarily launched in a window (in which almost half of the space is taken up by inventory), from a bird's eye view. The plot freely copies the fifth film episode, but of course we will see a lot of side quests and new locations. The story begins when Luke Skywalker lands his X-Wing on the planet Dagobah. After finding the astromechanical droid R2-D2 (which acts as an online help), we learn about the task of finding a master of the Jedi Order - Yoda. The locator also identifies areas that are resolved or unresolved, making them a valuable item to have.
The player is allowed some limited manipulation of the game world in the form of pulling or pushing certain blocks, throwing blocks in the air, using force to move objects or even puzzles with a combination of smaller buttons.

At the end of the 90's, the racing game market was very crowded, and in order to gain a foothold in it, you really had to come up with something new to engage players. And that is exactly what Attention to Detail did, which in 1999 came up with the excellent game Rollcage. This is a great racing game that actually has no rules, no boundaries, just a non-stop racing experience. The very name of the game "roll cage" suggests that it will be driven with almost unbreakable cars, where it doesn't matter if you crash, make hours, turn around, just step on the gas and move on. The individual tracks differ from each other not only in terms of graphics, but also in terrain and even gravity, so on some tracks you can fly nicely, or you can race on walls or ceilings. This is a great game that is fast, dynamic, very nice and fun at the same time. It is very difficult to find a weakness that you would blame for it.

At the time, this game made a real revolution. There were no superheroes, ancient secrets and half-naked beauties with submachine guns, you didn't wear commando's camouflage pants and you didn't hold a cold steel pistol in your hand. You have lived in an ordinary life in a virtual world. Tie a Hermes tie around your neck, get a Samsonite briefcase and go to work. Yes, what else did you expect? You have to make money to get your wife happy, and it's high time to buy a big TV. Neighbours are coming to visit, you have to get ready. Welcome to life.

It starts with an empty area where paths and sidewalks must be planted, cages for animals with the right soil and greenery, water areas and so on. Of course, each animal has different requirements, which can be read in a clear encyclopedia. But the zoo is also visited by people, so it is necessary to build benches, stalls, shops, restaurants and children's corners, otherwise it may happen that the Zoo becomes just a shelter for animals. In addition, of course, it is necessary to buy animals and place them in the right cages (an elephant behind an ordinary wire rod is not a good idea). However, the staff, from breeders to cleaners, must not be forgotten. Two data discs (Dinosaur Digs and Marine Mania) and a sequel (Zoo Tycoon 2) with the same principles and 3D graphics (and many data discs) were released for the game.

Accordingly, the appearance of your pet and the temple that your followers will build for you will also change.

The Thing is an action survival adventure game, with a dense atmosphere and a lot of tension. After the mysterious death of a US scientific expedition in frozen Antarctica, a military rescue team set out to investigate their deaths. In these inhospitable conditions, your team will discover a special form of life that takes the appearance of the organisms it has killed. The struggle for survival can begin.
The game, of course, follows on from the film of the same name, which takes place shortly after the events seen in the film of 1982. In the game, you return to the Antarctic base and the famous places from the film. Including a new chapter full of isolation of fear and paranoia. The atmosphere of fear works more than well, especially in the first half of the game, the suspicion of other people and their psyche gave the game a new dimension, at the time of release the game looked graphically nice, the cool dark environment was ideal and the enemies were as disgusting as in the movie.
It is a pity that in the second half of the game there are fewer of those surprises, the fights with the soldiers do not have such juice and the solid atmosphere will also relax a bit. In any case, just as Carpenter's The Thing is one of the best horror movies, so the game is one of the best games.

He rushed the prehistoric world at the moment when the Tyrannosaurus was going to eat an innocent girl and he saved her with the plane. As you can see, you already start the game as a hero.
Game explores the phenomenon of the Bermuda triangle, where many aircraft and ships had disappeared, this is why the game name is Bermuda Syndrome. The first thing you notice, that this game is very similar to the legendary game Flashback, it looks rather like a continuation Flashback, but it's not Flashback. Even though the game has all the signs: the movement of the characters is well animated, gorgeous graphics, high quality sound effects and music, and the use of objects is very similar too.
The game is very focused on solving logical problems and those are waiting for you on almost every screen where you find yourself (difficulty of the task is diverse, from the simplest ones where you have to shoot down the bird to feed the crocodile to the toughest ones, where you will spend tens of minutes on a single screen).
Bermuda Syndrome is mostly a lot of fun and it is a great game if you want to enjoy some action, but you are already tired from all the 3D bloodshed and shooting.

Batman Forever is a game that was inspired by the movie with the same name. The game is a sort of hybrid between arcade action and one-on-one fighting game (in the style of Mortal Kombat). You go through different levels where you encounter enemies with whom you have to fight. To fight them, you have to use punches, kicks and you can also use a different bat-gadgets. To successfully defeat the opponent, you should learn all the keyboard shortcuts and tricks.

You start by choosing the location of your business - it will either be in Europe or in the USA. Before the grand opening you have to take care of few things first (furniture, hire employees, think about a pizza menu and purchase all ingredients for pizza cooking).
As it happens, you start with a small pizzeria that gradually you will grow and expand. Your task is of course to earn money and build a huge company - become a pizza tycoon.

There are really only a couple of old games, that have become legendary that everybody knows them well, every little boy even of today's generation.
One of such games is undoubtedly Dune 2 - the game that laid the foundations for real-time strategy. Westwood Studios in 1998 decided to release a sequel - Dune 2000. Than the original game did not bring that much new - improved the graphics, gameplay, but the story remained the same.

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is a name for the third game in this series, and in 2010 was released as freeware. Once again, you can choose from two sides for which you fight: GDI or NOD. GDI has traditionally stronger units and weapons, but NOD side has better units for silent and sneaky attack.
Tiberian Sun aroused many passions and conflicting opinions. At the time, you could have read why this game is the worst par of the CC series and a few days later you've read on another site about why Tiberian Sun is the best C&C game.
Anyway, game brought a new beautiful 3D graphics and deformable terrain, which appeared only in this game series and it's only up to you to decide if this game is the best C&C or not.

Continuation of the famous game, which with its concept, where you steal cars, kill innocent civilians and fled the police, is certainly not pleased by any parent, but on the other hand, it brings a lot of fun for many hours. Your character's name is Claude Speed, who is trying to make some money in a city (somewhere in the U.S.). Since you don't know how to earn a lot of money legaly, you are gonna perform tasks for different gangs in the city. The city is divided into several parts, and each part of town you will find 3 gangs. For example, that you must demolish other cars, kill people for them, bribe policemen, and many tasks that are illegal and dangerous. Originality and just such a view of the violence with a black humor is what makes this game so fun. The game has one more original idea and that is that you can play it by noon, or at night, and accordingly the whole game changes its tone and coloring.

Hardly any title got five full sequels. The principle is simple: you walk around the city, steal cars, run over pedestrians, escape the cops - just a normal day, right? Although at first glance it may not look like the whole game is really fun.
