Markus “Notch” Persson has, via Notch Enterprises, made large dividends to himself almost every year in recent years. 2020 was an exception, but last year it was again time for a large dividend of SEK 500 million. Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has become a billionaire on the gaming phenomenon. Since 2014, however, it is the giant Microsoft that owns the game studio Mojang (which thus developed Minecraft). Exactly what Markus Persson does today we do not know for sure. Pretty soon after the Mojang founders sold their Mojang, "Notch" started a new game studio together with colleague Jakob Porsér , which they call Rubber Brain. That game studio has not had any revenue since the start in 2014. But Notch himself has said on Twitter that a game is being developed. Another interesting "Notch" company is instead Notch Enterprises, which will manage Markus Persson's assets. This is also where we usually find the Minecraft founder's various dividends to himself after the giant deal with Microsoft. The recent annual report shows that Markus Persson last year indulged in a dividend of as much as SEK 500 million. Since the sale of Minecraft, Markus Persson has picked out billions in dividends. The dividend in 2018, for example, was SEK 150 million and in 2019 , “Notch” treated itself to SEK 750 million . In 2020, on the other hand, no dividend appears to have been paid.

Microsoft stops selling all products and services in Russia
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in SirMadsen's Gaming
Microsoft will stop selling both services and products - including Xbox Series consoles - in Russia. Microsoft CEO Brad Smith confirms this in a new statement (via VGC). Smith condemns Russia's invasion and expresses terror, anger and sadness. As of today, sales for the tech giant in Russia will cease. It remains to be seen how long. At the same time as the decision has been made, actions is also being taken to follow the sanctions at, among others, the EU. Microsoft and Smith do not rule out that more information is to be expected in the future. He thinks they... The invasion of Ukraine characterizes the gaming world in different ways, in the small and the big. -
Microsoft Flight Simulator became one of 2020's hottest titles and stunned the world with its astonishing world. However, proper hardware is required to run it, whether it comes from an Xbox Series X / S or a PC. But now there is another way to enjoy the game, via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This means that you can stream the game from an Xbox One, less powerful PC or mobile phones and tablets that are supported, which since last year include both Android and iOS. To use Xbox Cloud Gaming, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is required - so a regular Game Pass subscription is not enough.

Microsoft plans to buy Activision Blizzard for $68 billion
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in SirMadsen's Gaming
Microsoft has the spending pants on and is not content with having pinched Zenimax and Bethesda. Now they also announce that they intend to buy Activision Blizzard for 68.7 billion dollars. In a post on the Xbox website, they write that the companies will continue to act independently of each other until the deal is completed. Furthermore, they write that they aim to offer as many of Activision Blizzard's games as possible via Game Pass to Xbox and PC, including new and old titles. Activision Blizzard is based in many traditional studios and valuable brands, such as Warcraft, Diablo, Call of Duty and Overwatch, so Game Pass can undoubtedly get a real boost if the deal goes through. In the post, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer also writes that creative success and self-reliance go hand in hand with treating all people with respect, which unfortunately does not seem to have been the motto of Activision Blizzard in recent years. He points out that all teams and leaders are expected to live up to this and that they look forward to spreading Microsoft's corporate culture to the teams at Activision Blizzard. However, everyone's favorite CEO Bobby Kotick is reported to remain in office, at least for the time being.- 1 comment

Halo's original composers Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori have sued Microsoft for 20 years of missing royalites. The case will be taken up next week and could potentially go to court if the parties do not agree. According to O'Donnell and Salvatori, they own the rights, while Microsoft says that they are only employees and thus that Microsoft is the owners of the rights. This is what O'Donnell says about the situation: According to O’Donnell, this also extends to the upcoming TV series that he says this about: Those who has seen the trailer has probably wondered why it lacks Halo music and the lawsuit would very well be the reason why when this lawsuit was sent in already in 2020. Then the question is whether O'Donnell and Salvatori can be right in substance as far as (as they claim is) a copied driving-loop in the trailer, this remains to be seen.

After last week’s news that Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard, there will now be more news about the Diablo and WoW developer: the studio will make a completely new survival game. A press release says that this is a survival game for PC and console. It’s located in a whole new game world, so it is not based on any of the company’s already well-used brands. It’s still early in the development and they reveal nothing about setting or anything else. In connection with the announcement, they are looking for employees in several areas.

Sony expect Activision's games to continue to be multi-platform
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in SirMadsen's Gaming
Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard could have major consequences for Playstation: there is a risk that games and series such as Call of Duty, Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 will not be released for Sony's console. It will probably take at least until the deal is approved and completed before that issue is on the agenda, but Sony has already made it clear that they expect Activision's games to continue to come to Playstation. They also expect the agreements to be fulfilled. A spokesman for the Wall Street Journal (paywall) says: Microsoft said in the press release about the deal that they intend to continue to support communities on "a number of platforms", which should mean that games available on e.g. Playstation and Switch will continue to do so. But the question of what will happen to new games when the deal has gone through, there is no answer to now. In 2014, Mojang and Minecraft were bought by Microsoft, and it remains for Playstation, Nintendo and other platforms. The same goes for all Bethesda games that were out there when the company was bought 1.5 years ago. But - upcoming Starfield will be released exclusively for Xbox and Windows. So Diablo 4 and other heavyweights can probably cause headaches for the Sony camp for a while. What are your thoughts? Classic tycoon game from a zoo environment. 2D graphics, around 40 animals for adoption, several types of environments and very undemanding gameplay make ZT a good thing to relax. The main goal is to earn money that will be left with satisfied visitors. It starts with an empty area where paths and sidewalks must be planted, cages for animals with the right soil and greenery, water areas and so on. Of course, each animal has different requirements, which can be read in a clear encyclopedia. But the zoo is also visited by people, so it is necessary to build benches, stalls, shops, restaurants and children's corners, otherwise it may happen that the Zoo becomes just a shelter for animals. In addition, of course, it is necessary to buy animals and place them in the right cages (an elephant behind an ordinary wire rod is not a good idea). However, the staff, from breeders to cleaners, must not be forgotten. Two data discs (Dinosaur Digs and Marine Mania) and a sequel (Zoo Tycoon 2) with the same principles and 3D graphics (and many data discs) were released for the game. -
