  1. Park Beyond

With a couple of Might & Magics and Tropico 6 under his belt, Limbic doesn't have a roller-coaster habit, but despite this, there's something obvious about Park Beyond. It feels natural for the Planet Coaster - and Theme Park -experienced to pick up, and in a genre that deals with tricks and tricks, this is a nice plus on the edge.
Count on the old tricks of (literally) salting fries to (figuratively) salt the prices of soft drinks. This and all the other things we recognize are not why Park Beyond attracts. It's the story campaign and making the impossible possible that will make Limbic's funfair ride something more than a trivial Theme Park clone.
The "impossible possible" has a catchy name: Impossification. Something I myself get to squeeze and feel when I build a roller coaster in the middle of a colorful small town. Laying out hills and motion-sickness-inducing curves is exemplary easy, and soon the track is winding through stately parks and over rooftops. This is where Park Beyond takes us beyond the possible.
You can choose between either building a cannon, which shoots the carts through the air to land at breakneck speed on the other side. Or trust nature's own speed and fan laws, and let the carts whiz freely over houses, people and livestock via a downhill slope and a carefully placed "bump".
Dip your management toes into the sandbox mode and "impose" a rather ordinary octopus carousel that is expanded with a deep pool that the visitors repeatedly dip into. Employees can also be "impossified", and Limbic tempts, for example, with mechanics on hoverboards.
Well, it's definitely quite possible that Park Beyond will be really fun. For a very long time Planet Coaster has been a natural choice, only catch with that title is the lack of content and the fact that the developer hide core game mechanics and attractions behind expensive DLC's.
We look forward to see more of Park Beyond and can't wait for the release next year.

  2. EA has pulled the wraps off the next content update for Battlefield 2042 . The name will be Season Two - Master of Arms and already on August 30 it will be released. On Tuesday next week, that is.
In terms of content, a new map, Stranded, is offered. There is an oil tanker stranded on the dried-up seabed, and there malevolent forces have established a weapons depot.
A short film shows a stranded freighter on a dried-up lake bed in Panama. Tight battles indoors, waiting behind boxes and cartons. In addition, three new weapons, a stun grenade, two vehicles and a new specialist named Charlie Crawford are included. He acts as support for the team, with the ability to revive teammates and conjure up a minigun with a shield when needed. This can be used by anyone - friend or foe. Finally, there will be some weapons and other things to unlock in BF Portal.
The first season update was released in June and was a bit of a vitamin injection for the then struggling game. The number of players grew significantly, and while these are not dream numbers (6,000 Steam players at the time of writing, according to Steam Charts), the increase is still there two months later. Hopefully, Season Two will have the same effect on both the number of players and their mood.
  3. The role-playing game Wyrdsong was unveiled with a trailer during yesterday's Gamescom stream. It's an open world RPG with supernatural elements, and the trailer voice hints at an unpleasant experience.
It takes place in a medieval Portugal and is powered by the game engine Unreal Engine 5. But much more than that, the developers have not revealed, not even what platforms it is made for.
But perhaps most interesting is the developer - Something Wicked Games. It was founded by Charles Staples ( Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds ), is led by Jeff Gardiner ( Skyrim, Fallout 3, 4 and 76 ) and has employees with experience from Bethesda, Bioware and Obsidian. In other words, a decent roleplaying track record.
How good Wyrdsong will be is impossible to tell from this short first teaser video. But a game worth keeping an eye on, for sure.

  4. Netflix's Resident Evil series has endured a lot of criticism. Most criticism has and to do with it has very little to do with the video game series and is more of a teen drama. The series premiered on July 14th and rushed straight into the top 10, but fell away rather quickly after the criticism.
Although the series did not follow the storyline from the games, iconic monsters and characters from the video game series appeared, but in different guises. The most positive criticism was received by the actor Lance Riddick for his portrayal of Albert Wesker. Even though Lance doesn't look like Wesker in the games, most people agree that he did a good acting job.
The scriptwriters had big plans for the series such as introducing the gigantic giantess Lady Dimitrescu. But now it won't be like that, Netflix simply cuts off the head of Resident Evil and lets it rot away.
Would you like a new season of Resident Evil?
  5. You probably haven't missed that Minecraft is going to get a spinoff in the likes of action strategy, right? Well, Minecraft Legends was announced in June, and from what little we got to see, it looked like an interesting concept. Now a new trailer has arrived that is as fiery as it is grisly.
Pigs invade the overworld and devour everything in their path, and it falls to the player to lead golems and other classic Minecraft creatures in the battle against them. This is not done with the help of classic real-time strategy, but instead in the form of an action and strategy hybrid where we, as the main character, ride around and lead our troops. This means that we can attack the enemies ourselves while giving orders - a bit like in Overlord and similar games.
Minecraft Legends is being developed by Mojang and Blackbird Interactive – who are also working on Homeworld 3 – and will be released in 2023 for PC, Playstation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as being included in Game Pass.
  6. Earlier this year we found out that Sony is working with Netflix on a series based on the Horizon games. We weren't given a lot of information at the time, but gaming journalist Jeff Grubb claimed shortly thereafter that the series was then called Horizon 2074 and is meant to run parallel to the games, rather than being a reinterpretation, sequel, or prequel.
We don't know what the situation is with these details, as they are only rumors, but now we have received a small piece of very significant information. According to an interview with Netflix, Steve Blackman - executive producer of The Umbrella Academy - will lead the production of the series. When asked what he is most looking forward to in the story, he answers the well-developed world and the fantastic characters, and above all confirms that Aloy is the main character in the Netflix series as well.
We don't have any dates to go on at the moment, and it will probably be a while before filming even starts.
  7. Netflix subscription with ads can cost $9

According to Bloomberg, Netflix is considering charging between $7-9 for the upcoming ad-supported subscription. The goal is to attract subscribers who think Netflix costs too much and can imagine watching advertising in exchange for a lower monthly cost.
The source also writes that Netflix aims to show about four minutes of advertising per hour. The information comes from people who are supposed to have insight into Netflix's plans. The advertising will be shown before and during films and series - but not after.
Bloomberg writes that Netflix wants to avoid frustrating customers, for example by not showing the same ads time and time again. The advertising is also claimed to be less targeted, so that most customers will see the same ads.
Netflix has said that the new subscription is expected to be generally available in early 2023. Microsoft will handle the advertising. According to an analysis company, the subscription with advertising could generate a total of 8.5 billion dollars for Netflix annually. The sum includes revenue from the subscription itself and from advertising.
  8. Mutated dinosaurs are the main antagonists in Second Extinction , the fps game where three people fight together in the best Left 4 Dead style for their survival. And the release is approaching - on October 20, the game will be released.
This is the second title from Systemic Reaction, one of three developers under the Swedish Avalanche Studios. They debuted in 2019 with the heavily 80s-smelling Generation Zero. Hopefully Second Extinction gets a warmer reception. It's coming to PC and Xbox.
  9. Dual Universe from Novaquark is approaching release-worthy condition. After eight years of development, it is announced that the game will be released on September 27, and those of you who haven’t caught the beta that has been running for two years will get a chance to feel this sandbox MMO in space.
The game emphasizes that freedom is important, and the players themselves create the content. They can build ships, houses, space stations, and everything in the world can be modified.
On September 22, the servers will be taken down to prepare for the release five days later. Then a trial version is also released so that you can test what it is all about free of charge.
Dual Universe is subscription based. Not very common in today’s MMO context, but it is needed to fund the common server that all players play on. A month costs 10 euros, and if you run a year in one go, the price drops to 7 euros a month. And a trial version is underway.
  10. Valve has made a booklet with information about and around the Steam Deck, and in it there is quite a lot of information. Anyone who worries that today’s Steam Deck will be a one-time story can hopefully breathe a sigh of relief when Valve outlines a product that will span “several generations”. Gaming on Linux noted the following as written by Valve:
"Steam Deck represents the first in a new category of Steam handheld gaming PC’s. In the future, Valve will follow up on this product with improvements and iterations to hardware and software, bringing new versions of Steam Deck to market.
The information is not very concrete, but at least a vague promise that there is more to come. It’s not inconceivable that Valve envisions more frequent updates than console generations.
  11. Hellena Taylor has been Bayonetta 's voice in two games, but in the 3rd it is instead Jennifer Hale who does the witch's voice. It has been unclear why they switched voice actors. but at the same time, it has happened before in the gaming world that iconic voice actors have been replaced. Sometimes it can have to do with things as simple as scheduling conflicts, but in Taylor's case, it's all about the money. According to her, she was only offered $4,000 dollars to do the role. She posts this in a twitter post while rallying fans to boycott the game.
These are harsh words from Taylor where she feels that Nintendo has not treated her well and also accuses Platinum Games of lying. As icing on the cake, she also sends a boot to Jennifer Hale and calls her "new girl" who has no right to call herself the voice of Bayonetta .
Bayonetta 3 will be released on October 28th for the Nintendo Switch.

  12. WB Games Montreal says that their upcoming Batman game (without Batman) will lack "performance mode" and the ability to choose between it and "quality mode". Gotham Knights will also be locked to 30 FPS on consoles. According to them, it's because of the co-op and cooperative nature of the game. The information about this was posted on their own discord and has since been spread via, among other things, twitter by others. In other words, they haven't released any official information about this (yet).
Gotham Knights is unleashed on the world on October 21st, coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The game was supposed to be released on Xbox One and PS4 as well, but the developers decided to scrap the idea of releasing Gotham Knights on last-gen consoles.

  13. In the first ten days, more than 25 million have played Overwatch 2, compared to the 15 million that attracted the original in the first three months. The bragging numbers come from Blizzard themselves, who claim that the sequel completely crushed the original's peak for concurrent players.
Blizzard CEO Mike Ybarra says in a press release that the moment is important for Blizzard.
"The launch of Overwatch 2 has been such an important moment for Blizzard. This is only the beginning—there are so many possibilities to explore in the world of Overwatch, and we cannot wait for players to experience everything the team is building for the live game.
Worth mentioning is that the second is free-to-play, while the first was a game we bought.
It should also be emphasized that the reporting about the game's problems is piled high. Blizzard has promised compensation in the form of double xp weekends. The Metacritic average is really low, but on the other hand, Blizzard is used to even lower averages . Whether this is a consolation is debatabl
  14. Everything is delayed. Most of the time. So it's perhaps not so surprising that worried fans are asking Insomniac on Twitter if the vague 2023 release window will hold for Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
According to Insomniac, there is no cause for concern. "Good progress" is being made and they still hold 2023 as the release date for the sequel. Spider-Man 2 was unveiled in September last year and since then we haven't seen the smoke of another trailer, but that shouldn't be cause for concern - according to Insomniac.
Anyone who wants a new (or at least "new") Spider-Man in the near future just has to wait another month. The PC release for Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set for November 18.
  15. There are a lot of ambitious mods out there, and Fallout has attracted quite a few such projects. One of those is Fallout: London, but if you want to go to warmer places, maybe Fallout: Miami would be something. The team has been working on this Fallout 4 project in their spare time for several years now, and a few days ago a new trailer was released.
It doesn't show gameplay (although most people probably know what Fallout 4 looks like), but offers a glimpse of the different places we'll get to visit at Miami Beach. The mod will have a storyline to follow as well as side quests, voiced characters, new items and two factions: Nuclear Patriots and Enclave. The developers themselves say that the mod has the same scope as an official expansion.
However, there is no release date, as projects like this completely rely on how much free time the developers can devote to it. However, they say they have internal goals, but they don't want to share them yet. The mod will only be released for pc, due to its size.
More info on the official website.

  16. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum definitely has potential, even if what has been shown has not received a resoundingly positive reception. Everything from the graphics and Gollum's design to the game mechanics have received skeptical comments, and the latest we heard from developer Daedalic was that the game is being delayed (for the second time) indefinitely instead of releasing as planned on September 1st.
However, Daedalic are hopeful and believe that the game may show the world what they are capable of creating in Tolkien's world, which they hope will lead to them telling another story there. In an interview with Gamesindustry , Jonas Hüsges says that a success with Gollum could lead to them tackling another part of the universe and telling a new story.
But of course it depends on the game's reception and, above all, how well it sells. One should also bear in mind that Swedish Embracer is in the process of buying up Middle-earth Enterprises and thus many of the rights connected to Tolkien's works.
  17. In the same vein that Insomniac revealed Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with a release in 2023, they also confirmed Marvel's Wolverine in a nagging short teaser. That game was described in fall 2021 as "very early in development" . No date was mentioned.
For its part, Microsoft claims that Insomniac and Playstation Studios plan to release this Marvel title as well in 2023. Tech4Gamer notes in documents regarding the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) that Wolverine and others will be released in the coming years.
"Playstation also has a spate of first- and third-party exclusive titles lined up for launch in 2023, including Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Horizon, Final Fantasy XVI and Forspoken.
Wild guess? A mistake? Or do they know something we don't? Most unclear.
  18. In recent times we've had the Netflix series Edgerunners, news about the expansion Phantom Liberty and the news that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 20 million copies. CD Projekt also stated that in September, one million people played daily, although it should be added that it was only a matter of a few days.
The trend has continued and CD Projekt proudly states that one million have played Cyberpunk 2077 daily for four weeks. It's no shame for a game that had a chaotic launch and is almost two years old. A sequel was recently confirmed.

  19. In this year's edition of FIFA, EA Sports introduced women's club teams to the game for the first time. The game features Womens Barclays Super League and Division 1 Arkema. It is also planned to release DLC in the form of the Women's Champions League next year. Now EA announces that they have intentions to continue supporting women's soccer and will invest a total of 11 million dollars for the purpose, both in the game and in reality.
The set 11 million will be distributed to women's football via a fund called "Starting XI Fund", but new women-related DLC material will also be invested in FIFA 23. Next year, EA Sports will also start an internship program aimed at women and its impact in sport. However, this will not be financed by the fund, but there instead partners will be used.
  20. Many people agree that the number of remasters and remakes is often exaggerated. But! Just as many (at least) probably wouldn't turn down a PS5 remaster of Bloodborne , whose PS4 original hardly flows flawlessly on PS4. While you're at it: a PC version too, please.
Rumors have come and gone but so far we have no Bloodborne remake in sight.
Yesterday, however, Sony posted a tweet showing a cropped and zoomed-in image of Bloodborne 's cover, and the question: "Can you see that? Do you see which Playstation game we're zooming in on?"
What knitting needles!? However, the tweet was taken down (for some reason) and we are left with a lot of unanswered questions. 4,000 shares were made and maybe someone got cold feet from a joke taken too far. Or did it mean "something"? We do not know. We may never get an answer.

  21. Euro Truck Simulator 2 celebrated ten years on the market a couple of days ago, and via their blog they shared some interesting numbers from this strangely popular simulator. They themselves write that the game's success and placement on top lists in connection with the release in autumn 2012 came as a surprise. The shock continued with the release on Steam a few months later, where it also became a bestseller.
Since then, 13 million copies of the game have been sold, and on top of that they have managed to churn out 80 million pieces of DLC. However, it should be added that these DLCs don't just include mediocre expansions with whole new lands to explore and the like, but also smaller things, like special paint jobs for the trucks. Those are still impressive numbers, and surely it's fun when something so niche becomes a huge thing?
They also say that they hope the game will live for ten more years and that there are many features they still want to implement, which may not sound so promising to people who are hungry for a proper sequel.
  22. Tim Burton is in Lyon, France, where he was awarded a prize at the Lumière Festival over the weekend. On Saturday, the day after receiving his Prix Lumière, Burton took part in a press conference where he talked about how the film industry has changed during his long career.
Among other things, Burton mentioned his complicated relationship with Walt Disney Studios, which welcomed him as an animator in the 80s but scared him away when he directed the undrawn "Dumbo" (2019).
"My story is that I started at Disney. I was hired and fired several times during my career. When I did "Dumbo" I realized that my time with Disney was over. I felt like Dumbo working in a horrible, big circus and I needed to escape. In a way, the film is autobiographical.
The filmmaker believes that the studio no longer wants to invest in creative and innovative ideas. All Disney focuses on are franchise films from Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar:
    - It has become very homogenous. There is less room for other things, says Burton according to Deadline.
Tim Burton began his film career with dark and quirky characters such as Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. He was also early on in laying the foundations for today's superhero era with two Batman films in the early 90s. In recent years, there have been several family films at Disney, including "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) and "Frankenweenie" (2012).
When asked if he would like to take the director's chair on a Marvel film, he answers hesitantly:
I can only handle one universe at a time, not a whole multi-universe.
Burton is soon to be featured in the TV series "Wednesday" on Netflix. A dark and gothic series about the Addams Family feels eerily right for the director. However, many fans are curious if there really will be a sequel to the horror comedy "Beetlejuice" (1988) - and if he is involved?
    - Nothing is impossible. It's only when I'm on set that I know I'm making a film. I'm working on some ideas right now, but it's very early to say anything. We'll see how they go. Does it work as a non-response?
What is your favorite Tim Burton movie? Feel free to comment.
  23. The announcement comes 15 years after the game’s world premiere (October 26, 2007). The new version is powered by the Unreal Engine 5 game engine and is “rebuilt from the ground up”, as the announcement states.
The remake is made by the Polish developer Fool’s Theory, who previously helped Larian with Baldur’s Gate 3, among other things. According to CD Projekt, they contribute with their know-how and support. The project is quite fresh, so while there are no indications of when it will be finished, you can be sure that it will take a while.
The game goes by the working name Canis Majoris, and was thus one of the five projects that CDPR mentioned when they staked out the future a few weeks ago. Then it was called a full-sized The Witcher game with no connection to the new The Witcher series CDPR is working on, and coded by an external studio.
The Witcher original thus fills mop today. Just under a year later, an improved version was released with the additional name Enhanced Edition . It was the start of a particularly acclaimed game series.
  24. The pie throwing between the two console giants continues and this time it is the upcoming, highly awaited Silent Hill 2 remake that is in focus. Microsoft now claims that they have evidence that Sony has bought exclusive rights to the game that will prevent a release on the Xbox. The same is also alleged to apply to Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII remake.
"MS has already told CMA that Final Fantasy VII Remake cannot be released on Xbox. This is because Sony has signed an “Xbox exclusion” agreement with some third-party publishers for several games including FF VII Remake.
It’s no secret that Sony has been on the war path since Microsoft initiated the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, something they firmly claim would damage the gaming market. Something they are obviously just as guilty of and where exactly this ever-scaling conflict is going to end, no one knows.
Do you think there will be some breakthrough or consensus during the year new between the two parties, or will the battle escalate even more?
  25. OK, we know this is not the typical article and that it is far from what we normally write about. But listen, it is that time of year and this is just, hilarious and outright pathetic.
It is virtually impossible to miss the Christmas song “Last Christmas” with Wham during the Christmas holidays.
Now the Swedish couple Tomas and Hannah Mazetti want to ban the song forever – through a fundraiser to be able to buy the rights.
"We asked our friends how much they would be willing to pay to avoid hearing that song ever again, Tomas says.
“Last Christmas” with Wham was released in 1984 and since 2007 has gone up to the singles list’s top-40 almost every year. Last year, the song took first place, as did it 2020.
But not everyone appreciates the Christmas classic.
The Mazetti couple in Gothenburg feel such a fiery disgust at the song that they have started a fundraiser to remove it. So far, the spouses have reached out to people who say they are prepared to donate a total of SEK 600,000 – in the hope of buying the rights and banning the Christmas song forever.
"We noticed immediately that quite a few were prepared to pay quite a lot, says Tomas Mazetti.
But despite approaching the million, it takes much more to succeed in buying “Last Christmas” owned by Warner Chappell Music UK. According to the British Daily Star, the price tag is estimated to be around $25 million.
Tormented by the Christmas classic at work
Tomas Mazetti says that his wife Hannah’s hatred was born 13 years ago when she was tormented by the song during her time as a cafe assistant – it was almost constantly played at the workplace in Oxford, UK.
She and her husband began to ask their friends how much they would be willing to pay to never have to hear the song again.
When the notes of “Last Christmas” began to be heard in November 2022, they were reminded of the idea and started the collection “No more Last Christmas”.
"It’s fun because people to get so angry, while we see it as a joke. Many people seem to think that we want to ruin the Christmas joy, says Tomas Mazetti.
What are your thoughts? Do you love or hate the classic “Last Christmas”?
