  1. OpenRA is a project that recreates and modernizes the classic Command & Conquer real time strategy games. We have developed a flexible open source game engine (the OpenRA engine) that provides a common platform for rebuilding and reimagining classic 2D and 2.5D RTS games (the OpenRA mods).
This means that OpenRA is not restricted by the technical limitations of the original closed-source games: it includes native support for modern operating systems and screen resolutions (including Windows 10, Mac OS X, and most Linux distros) without relying on emulation or binary hacks, and features integrated online multiplayer.
While we love the classic RTS gameplay, multiplayer game design has evolved significantly since the early 1990’s. The OpenRA mods include new features and gameplay improvements that bring them into the modern era:
A choice between “right click” and classic “left click” control schemes Overhauled sidebar interfaces for managing production Support for game replays and an observer interface designed for streaming games online The “fog of war” that obscures the battlefield outside your units’ line of sight Civilian structures that can be captured for strategic advantage Units gain experience as they fight and improve when they earn new ranks OpenRA is 100% free, and comes bundled with three distinct mods. When you run a mod for the first time the game can automatically download the original game assets, or you can use the original game disks. Tiberian Dawn
An alliance of nations fights to protect Europe and northern Africa from a mysterious terrorist organization and the valuable but toxic alien mineral, Tiberium, that is slowly spreading over the world.
The Tiberian Dawn mod focuses on fast and fluid play, taking heavy influences from modern RTS games.
    Red Alert
In a world where rainbow was assassinated and the Third Reich never existed, the Soviet Union seeks power over all of Europe. Allied against this Evil Empire, the free world faces a Cold War turned hot.
The Red Alert mod focuses on strategy, providing a range of units and tactics to conquer the land, sea, and air.
    Dune 2000
Three great houses fight for the precious spice melange.
He who controls the spice controls the universe!
Establish a foothold on the desert planet Arrakis, where your biggest threat is the environment.
The Dune 2000 mod currently focuses on providing an experience that is authentic to the original game.

  2. Black & White 2 places you in the role of a god. Summoned by a lost tribe of people in need, the Greeks, it is your task to help rebuild them to their former glory. The path you take is completely up to you. You can be a benevolent and merciful god, working with the people to build a city that makes them happy. On that path, you help them with daily tasks such as gathering grain and wood, and you protect them from the dangers out the world. On the flipside, you can be an evil, ruthless and vengeful god causing general pain and suffering. As a new addition this time around, you can build a war machine to crush the other tribes.

  3. In the 90s "Tycoons" were very popular building strategies. They were focus mainly on traffic and normal life. One of the most original Tycoon game is Dinopark Tycoon and as the name suggests you have to build a theme park with dinosaurs. To build a successful theme park, you have to excell in several activities: buy dinosaurs, secure park fence, provide food, toilets, hire employees, set the right admission fees and maintain the park profitable. The game concept is very similar to Rollercoaster Tycoon, but with dinosaurs your responsibility and worries are increasing (you have to grow plants for herbivores and provide meat for carnivores, etc..).

  4. Warzone 2100 was one of the first in the line of 3D strategy games that started showing up at around the turn of the millennium. While the game’s concept is nothing new (a fight over a devastated world among armies that rely on the harvesting of a resource), its visual appeal and its clever interface are an achievement.
Warzone 2100 combines a trio of great ideas which free up time from unit production and let you dwell more on strategic decisions. First, factories can be ordered to construct a variety of units, and then told to churn them out in batches—including an infinite loop. Second, the game requires you to research your way through a tech tree, and one branch leads to Commander units. Assign units to Commanders, and they’ll work as a team. Each kill the Commander’s team gets, the more experience both they and the Commander rake in, and the more units the Commander earns the right to control. The third link: automatic repairing. Every unit can be set to retreat when heavily damaged, and if they have a repair bay to retreat to, they’ll go there.

  5. Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis was described by its publisher as a “world-builder”, something not seen a lot on consoles, but generally known as a “tycoon game” on the PC (think Zoo Tycoon or Theme Park). The real twist here is that Operation Genesis is infused with the 3D dinosaurs that made the original movies such beloved classics. Your job is to develop the dino population and build a theme park around them, managing all of the star characters from the movies and churn out a profitable operation for your boss, Dr. John Hammond and Ingen.

  6. Classic tycoon game from a zoo environment. 2D graphics, around 40 animals for adoption, several types of environments and very undemanding gameplay make ZT a good thing to relax. The main goal is to earn money that will be left with satisfied visitors.
It starts with an empty area where paths and sidewalks must be planted, cages for animals with the right soil and greenery, water areas and so on. Of course, each animal has different requirements, which can be read in a clear encyclopedia. But the zoo is also visited by people, so it is necessary to build benches, stalls, shops, restaurants and children's corners, otherwise it may happen that the Zoo becomes just a shelter for animals. In addition, of course, it is necessary to buy animals and place them in the right cages (an elephant behind an ordinary wire rod is not a good idea). However, the staff, from breeders to cleaners, must not be forgotten. Two data discs (Dinosaur Digs and Marine Mania) and a sequel (Zoo Tycoon 2) with the same principles and 3D graphics (and many data discs) were released for the game.

  7. Very ambitious "god simulator" - minimal interface and maximum freedom. Everything you use to interact with the world around you and your followers is your hand of God. The primary goal is to control the territory / map.
As God you build buildings and infrastructure, you help your trustees with daily necessities, with logging, with the provision of food, you carry them under. On the other hand, you can terrorize them with fireballs, storms and other disasters to strengthen their faith in you. You are also entrusted with an overgrown animal, e.g. Monkey, lion, tiger, cow and more. Your task is to educate your image, take care of its survival and daily consumption, teach it and use it as a tool of help or destruction, it always depends only on you.
The game is completely in 3D processing. It only depends on your decisions whether you will be a good god who will send rain on the wheat fields or an evil god and unleash all possible punishments on your enemies and your followers. Accordingly, the appearance of your pet and the temple that your followers will build for you will also change.

  8. It is an unconventional real-time strategy in which you control the elements water, wind, lightning and the sun.
NetStorm combines chess with real-time strategy. The game takes place on islands floating in the air. You connect these islands with cubes not unlike those from Tetris. In the game you build various defensive and combat structures that have a limited range and different methods of attack. The only two types of units you can move with are priests and golems.
The priest controls and builds everything. The golem derives energy from geysers. The aim of the game is to capture and sacrifice a priest of a foreign element.

  11. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is a name for the third game in this series, and in 2010 was released as freeware. Once again, you can choose from two sides for which you fight: GDI or NOD. GDI has traditionally stronger units and weapons, but NOD side has better units for silent and sneaky attack.
Tiberian Sun aroused many passions and conflicting opinions. At the time, you could have read why this game is the worst par of the CC series and a few days later you've read on another site about why Tiberian Sun is the best C&C game.
Anyway, game brought a new beautiful 3D graphics and deformable terrain, which appeared only in this game series and it's only up to you to decide if this game is the best C&C or not.

  12. Red Alert is one of the most successful and well known real-time strategy, following on the first Command & Conquer released in 1995. Game mechanisms and strategies has not been changed - you have to build a base, produce combat units and you harvest resources. The story, however, is distinctly different - it is not about two enemy organizations, but you can play either for allies or for Soviets. These two sides battle for the fate of planet Earth itself. The game has a variety of missions: from conventional forestry, through missions on the water and also indoor missions, where you have to use only infantry.

  15. As the game name itself suggests - plot of the game takes place in the past, namely in 200 BC, in the Roman era. Your task is to help Caesar to develop and expand his empire by conquering new territory, where you build new cities. You start with a small village and you need to further develop and take care of it. You must provide drinking water, education, protection, entertainment and all the other typical urban stuff for city residents. You must also think of the external protection of the city, because many barbarian hordes may attack your city. If you manage to solve all these things, you might eventually become the new Caesar. If you like SimCity and Civilization, you'll love the game Caesar 2 too.

  16. Dune II is one of the most important games and absolute gaming legend that has defined the whole game genre of real-time strategies. Its success has tried to follow the game Dune 2000 but has not been as successful, as it should be. Dune has inspired several freeware versions that have tried to improve some elements from the original game. The most successful remake of Dune is Dune IV - created from scratch by Vladislav Demjanišin (same author also created Dune III, but IV was more popular). Compared to Dune II game brings many improvements: higher resolution for newer computers, better gaming control (choice of several units at once), better artificial intelligence, more dynasties, etc.

Improvements and additions to the original game will include a more elaborate instruction manual, a more user-friendly tutorial system, better graphics, more music and sound effects, simpler, more uniform interface, refined and simplified game play, fewer but more unique locations, an improved camera system, new and interesting disasters, and a condensed Aircraft list. 21. America (ironically enough) was developed by a German software firm, Data Becker. The concept behind this title is a familiar one. The player must gather and manage resources (food, wood, and gold), build structures, create "units" (people), and achieve certain specific mission objectives (which typically amount to conquering your opposing nations and/or defending yourself from the same). Few people would argue with the assertion that this sounds more than just vaguely familiar. America's gameplay style is just what one might expect from a mainstream real time strategy. In a nutshell, it is (as many other titles are) very similar to the Age of Empires series. While I hate to compare every new real time strategy game to Age of Empires II, this eminent title is widely accepted as a standard bearer of the genre. Hence, I will succumb to this temptation and utilize the Age of Empires series as the yardstick by which to measure America on more than one occasion.

  23. Atrox is astonishingly similar to Blizzard Entertainment’s StarCraft. The gameplay, the graphics, units, buildings, even single animations are extremely close to the original.
The game is a real-time strategy game where the player controls one of three races (Hominides, Inteliom, Kreators) and tries to destroy all the others on the map. To accomplish this task, he can build a base with many different buildings such as weapon factories, barracks, power plants and so on. He also has to gather resources to build all his stuff, in this game, he needs to get Quark and some liquid crystal.
The game features three different campaigns (one for each race) as well as skirmish mode, network and online play (the latter using a server).
