The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is point-and-click horror of the pixel-perfect kind

The term "pixel perfection" gets thrown around a bit sometimes, but in the case of The Excavation of Hob's Barrow (pc) it feels justified. Looks fantastic! The adventure is about antiquarian Thomasina Bateman who, via a mysterious letter, ends up in a sleepy small town with buried secrets. Maybe you're not trying to prevent people from getting in, but something from getting out ? Well, this is an adventure with underlying horror, with a so-called pagan horror ("folk horror"). The Excav

Evan Blass' high-resolution press images of the Galaxy Flip 4 and Fold 4

Evan Blass offers high-resolution images of Samsung's upcoming foldables Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. The latter mobile phone is shown in the colors beige, black and gray. Both phones look like their predecessors at first glance and we suspect the biggest news can be found internally and in the hinges. Samsung recently told that the Flip is significantly more popular than the Fold, which is likely partly to do with the large price difference. Of those who bought a foldable from Sa

OnePlus shows off the design of the 10T – the device lacks a physical do not disturb switch

As usual, OnePlus has gradually revealed details about the new phone 10T. The Oppo brand has now shown off the entire mobile design in a trio of images. The 10T will be OnePlus' first top-of-the-line model without the physical do-not-disturb switch along the side – a practical design feature carried over from iPhones. Through the slider, it is easy to switch to silent mode and between different sound profiles, without even having to wake up the screen. OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu g

Samsung is better than Google at mid-range OS updates

In recent years, Samsung has become the best Android manufacturer in terms of updates. In the beginning, that statement had an asterisk, "except for Google", but now Samsung is even better than the search giant in sending out new OS versions in the middle segment. For all intents and purposes, it remains to be seen how well the promises are fulfilled, but on paper, the Galaxy A53 will receive more new Android versions than Google's equivalent phone, the Pixel 6a. The Galaxy A53 will get fou

Chinese manufacturers accused of tax evasion in India

A number of Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been accused of tax evasion by Indian authorities since the spring. It all started when Huawei's Indian office was raided by authorities in February. In May, the equivalent of $725 million was seized from Xiaomi's bank accounts, as the manufacturer was accused of diverting high royalty fees to other parties. Xiaomi India said everything went right. Now at the beginning of July, the equivalent of 58 million dollars of Vivo's assets in India

EA making Black Panther game, with Shadow of Mordor routine?

Single player, open world and under development by new EA studio, according to rumor. For almost fifteen years, Marvel has been a big deal, following the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film success has of course echoed in the gaming world, with both successful (Insomniac's Spider-Man) and less successful (Marvel's Avengers) results. However, the feeling is that this is just the beginning. Earlier this summer we reported that EA was also rumored to have a Marvel game in t

Siege of Orison FPS Event and New Derelict Coming in Alpha 3.17.2

Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new video showcasing content coming in the next update. The video focuses on a derelict that will be placed on the surface of Microtech with the upcoming Alpha 3.17.2 version of the game. Basically, it’s a crashed starship that has been taken over by an NPC faction. The second part of the video is perhaps even more exciting, featuring a look at the area created for the “Siege of Orison” event, which will see players square off agai

Minecraft founder Markus "Notch" Persson treats himself to a huge dividend

Markus “Notch” Persson has, via Notch Enterprises, made large dividends to himself almost every year in recent years. 2020 was an exception, but last year it was again time for a large dividend of SEK 500 million. Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has become a billionaire on the gaming phenomenon. Since 2014, however, it is the giant Microsoft that owns the game studio Mojang (which thus developed Minecraft). Exactly what Markus Persson does today we do not know for sure. Pretty

Mysterious rocket has hit the moon

Two new craters on the moon puzzle Nasa. Astronomers have mapped how they formed and when, and know that it happened in connection with a rocket crashing on the celestial body. But no one knows whose rocket is. In late 2021, a group of astronomers discovered that a rocket was heading for the moon. The crash itself took place on March 4 this year and now Nasa, with the help of the space probe "Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter", has for the first time published images of the crash. An articl

Ron Gilbert stops posting news about Monkey Island after online hate

The graphic design of Return to Monkey Island, the sequel Ron Gilbert has wanted to do since the 1991 Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, has been discussed and criticized. It is okay. The word is free. What probably does not surprise anyone is that some "fans" take it a step further and go to personal attacks, something Ron Gilbert now testifies to. He has already expressed his disappointment that he is being pressured into doing a Monkey Island he does not want to do. So now it has gone a

Free Overwatch 2 replaces Pay Overwatch in October

There has been some talk. It has been teased, and tassled. But not until now do we have a proper, official confirmation. With the release of Overwatch 2 in October, the original will be phased out and all focus is on the sequel. No more updates, patches or extensions then. The new version will simply replace the original. Players have wondered, especially after a Reddit-AMA created some confusion. But now Blizzard has clarified what will happen: “Overwatch 2 will replace the current Ov

The Swedish survival game Raft sails out of early access

Raft is being developed by Swedish Redbeet Interactive and has been in early access since 2018. Now, however, it is over, because it reached version 1.0, with its largest update ever. The update adds above all, the last chapter of the game's plot, and also three new places to visit: Varuna Point, which was a building where the world elite would seek protection, but which was abandoned before construction was completed; Temperance, which is a snow-covered area where the water has not reached

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a survival game in Tolkien's world

A sigh went through the gaming world when EA announced The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth last month, mainly because it was a mobile game. But more come from Tolkien's world, and whether it's good or bad that it's survival games we leave unsaid. The game is called The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria , and just as the name suggests, it revolves around a return to the dwarf kingdom of Moria, or Khazad-dûm if you want to be extra intrusive in your nerdiness. Once there, it will b

Diablo IV seems to be backing away from the "pay to win" mentality in Immortal

During the Xbox show, it was clear that Diablo IV will (if not delayed, that is) be released during the first half of 2023. Exciting, and a little scary considering the criticism that Diablo Immortal is currently receiving. Above all, it is "pay to win" criticism that abounds. Now Blizzard more or less seems to want to say that Diablo IV is not based on the same principles as Immortal. Rod Fergusson, responsible for Diablo, tweets : "To clarify, Diablo IV is a full-price game built for PC,

Fallout 5 confirmed

Yes, there will be a Fallout 5. Bethesda's strongman Todd Howard confirms to IGN that the story of life after the nuclear disaster will continue. But it will take time. First, of course, Bethesda will get Starfield, and then The Elder Scrolls 6. That game is currently in "pre-production", so it will probably take several years before Skyrim sequel is released. And as another cloud of concern (if it's mainly a new Fallout you want from Bethesda) is that they have some other ideas in stock. T

The first gameplay from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is here

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will be a game again, and Gun Interactive and Sumo Digital aim to be truly faithful to the model. We got to see samples of that last month, when they showed some scenes from the game and the movie side by side, and they had really managed to capture the details. Now it's time to show off some gameplay from the game, and the terrifying experience of being in the Sawyer family's house is also retained. Something that does not really measure up is the facial animati

Diablo Immortal now has the worst user ratings on the entire Metacritic

Diablo Immortal is the biggest launch in the series history, according to Blizzard. But that does not stop it from also being shrouded in controversy and disappointment. Although many people like the game, there are also many who do not take the game's micro-transactions lightly, as they think it goes over the limit of what is decent even in a free to play game. This led to the game shortly after its release becoming the Blizzard title with the worst user rating (0.5 out of 10) on Metacritic, bu

New Blood is a Fallout-like role-playing game - familiar names develop

During the non-E3 week, lots of games were announced, many of which first disappeared under the radar. But every thing has its time, and now we can tell about New Blood , a Fallout -like role-playing game from some of the brains behind Fallout , Van Buren and Planescape: Torment . The studio is aptly named New Blood Interactive, and they reportedly work on several titles in parallel. But perhaps most interesting is New Blood , a game that CEO Dave Oshry of PC Gamer described as "his dream g

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on September 1st

Daedalic and Nacon have finally nailed a date for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and the release is just over three months away. On September 1, the stealth adventure will be released for various consoles and PCs. Various consoles" unfortunately do not include Switch, whose players will have to wait until later in 2022. Since the Gollum game was unveiled in 2019, the information has been scarce, but we got a first gameplay trailer last spring and a more cinematic variant last winter (which

Arma 4 has been confirmed with no release date, but a engine demo

We here at Throneofgeeks love Arma and we play it a lot with some great people. Today, Arma 4 was confirmed but with no release date as they are still working on the game. But, another good news was that there is now a working Arma game that uses Bohemia Interactives new Enfusion game engine that Arma 4 will be built upon. We didn't get a lot of information about Arma 4, so our guess is that it is still in early development and will not release for another year or two. Enter Arma Refor

Big Arma screening tonight - is Arma 4 finally in the works?

Nine years after Arma 3, it's about time. Tonight, may 17, Bohemia Interactive will present the future of Arma, the mil sim whose third part will soon turn nine years old. How To Find Map Pieces in Evil Dead The Game

Finding the Map Pieces in Evil Dead: The Game When entering a match as one of the defenders of humanity, you will receive a mission objective in the top right corner that will read something like “Collect a piece of the map near Faison farm.” This usually points to the map piece closest to your location, and I believe all players have the same piece to look for at the same time. You may find when approaching this area that the building you were supposed to search doesn’t contain the ma

Evil Dead game classes for survivors and demons

All Evil Dead: The Game classes have their respective powers and roles to play as you go up against either the Deadites and Kandarian demons, or alternatively, against Ash Williams and the survivors. Some excel at ranged combat, some help their allies, some summon allies and some puke on people. Takes all sorts, it seems, but it means there's a class and role for everybody playing Evil Dead: The Game. We'll go through all the Evil Dead classes below, including what they do and how they should be
