  1. As you know, Lionsgate has two films with John Wick on the horizon, but according to IndieWire , the studio also seems to want to make a game based on the series. John Feltheimer at Lionsgate says that they are currently discussing making a big investment in a game project, but that nothing is set in stone yet. According to “I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of ‘John Wick,'” “We have been fielding proposals. We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.” Now, there are already games based on John Wick in the form of Bithell Games’ John Wick Hex , but what Lionsgate is talking about would be a title with a much bigger budget. Would you like a AAA investment of John Wick?
  2. Big acquisitions in the gaming industry have become almost commonplace in recent years, with deals such as Microsoft’s acquisition of Zenimax and their ongoing acquisition of Activision Blizzard. But one who can’t seem to attract any of the industry giants is Hideo Kojima. In the latest episode of his podcast Brain Structure – with Geoff Keighley as guest – he addressed the topic, saying that he receives offers from all over the world on a daily basis to buy Kojima Productions. Some of these offers reportedly involve “ridiculous amounts of money,” but Kojima says he’s not interested in the money, as he started the studio to be able to make the games he wants to make. He therefore believes that he will not accept such an offer as long as he lives. Kojima Productions is currently said to be working on a sequel to Death Stranding , which Norman Reedus happened to reveal. However, they seem to have at least one other project in the works, which will involve the actors, Elle Fanning , Margaret Qualley and Shioli Kutsuna. The project could be the horror game called Overdose that was rumored before.
  3. The announcement comes 15 years after the game’s world premiere (October 26, 2007). The new version is powered by the Unreal Engine 5 game engine and is “rebuilt from the ground up”, as the announcement states. The remake is made by the Polish developer Fool’s Theory, who previously helped Larian with Baldur’s Gate 3, among other things. According to CD Projekt, they contribute with their know-how and support. The project is quite fresh, so while there are no indications of when it will be finished, you can be sure that it will take a while. The game goes by the working name Canis Majoris, and was thus one of the five projects that CDPR mentioned when they staked out the future a few weeks ago. Then it was called a full-sized The Witcher game with no connection to the new The Witcher series CDPR is working on, and coded by an external studio. The Witcher original thus fills mop today. Just under a year later, an improved version was released with the additional name Enhanced Edition . It was the start of a particularly acclaimed game series.
  4. Tim Burton is in Lyon, France, where he was awarded a prize at the Lumière Festival over the weekend. On Saturday, the day after receiving his Prix Lumière, Burton took part in a press conference where he talked about how the film industry has changed during his long career. Among other things, Burton mentioned his complicated relationship with Walt Disney Studios, which welcomed him as an animator in the 80s but scared him away when he directed the undrawn "Dumbo" (2019). "My story is that I started at Disney. I was hired and fired several times during my career. When I did "Dumbo" I realized that my time with Disney was over. I felt like Dumbo working in a horrible, big circus and I needed to escape. In a way, the film is autobiographical. The filmmaker believes that the studio no longer wants to invest in creative and innovative ideas. All Disney focuses on are franchise films from Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar: - It has become very homogenous. There is less room for other things, says Burton according to Deadline. Tim Burton began his film career with dark and quirky characters such as Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. He was also early on in laying the foundations for today's superhero era with two Batman films in the early 90s. In recent years, there have been several family films at Disney, including "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) and "Frankenweenie" (2012). When asked if he would like to take the director's chair on a Marvel film, he answers hesitantly: I can only handle one universe at a time, not a whole multi-universe. Burton is soon to be featured in the TV series "Wednesday" on Netflix. A dark and gothic series about the Addams Family feels eerily right for the director. However, many fans are curious if there really will be a sequel to the horror comedy "Beetlejuice" (1988) - and if he is involved? - Nothing is impossible. It's only when I'm on set that I know I'm making a film. I'm working on some ideas right now, but it's very early to say anything. We'll see how they go. Does it work as a non-response? What is your favorite Tim Burton movie? Feel free to comment.
  5. Euro Truck Simulator 2 celebrated ten years on the market a couple of days ago, and via their blog they shared some interesting numbers from this strangely popular simulator. They themselves write that the game's success and placement on top lists in connection with the release in autumn 2012 came as a surprise. The shock continued with the release on Steam a few months later, where it also became a bestseller. Since then, 13 million copies of the game have been sold, and on top of that they have managed to churn out 80 million pieces of DLC. However, it should be added that these DLCs don't just include mediocre expansions with whole new lands to explore and the like, but also smaller things, like special paint jobs for the trucks. Those are still impressive numbers, and surely it's fun when something so niche becomes a huge thing? They also say that they hope the game will live for ten more years and that there are many features they still want to implement, which may not sound so promising to people who are hungry for a proper sequel.
  6. Many people agree that the number of remasters and remakes is often exaggerated. But! Just as many (at least) probably wouldn't turn down a PS5 remaster of Bloodborne , whose PS4 original hardly flows flawlessly on PS4. While you're at it: a PC version too, please. Rumors have come and gone but so far we have no Bloodborne remake in sight. Yesterday, however, Sony posted a tweet showing a cropped and zoomed-in image of Bloodborne 's cover, and the question: "Can you see that? Do you see which Playstation game we're zooming in on?" What knitting needles!? However, the tweet was taken down (for some reason) and we are left with a lot of unanswered questions. 4,000 shares were made and maybe someone got cold feet from a joke taken too far. Or did it mean "something"? We do not know. We may never get an answer.
  7. In this year's edition of FIFA, EA Sports introduced women's club teams to the game for the first time. The game features Womens Barclays Super League and Division 1 Arkema. It is also planned to release DLC in the form of the Women's Champions League next year. Now EA announces that they have intentions to continue supporting women's soccer and will invest a total of 11 million dollars for the purpose, both in the game and in reality. The set 11 million will be distributed to women's football via a fund called "Starting XI Fund", but new women-related DLC material will also be invested in FIFA 23. Next year, EA Sports will also start an internship program aimed at women and its impact in sport. However, this will not be financed by the fund, but there instead partners will be used.
  8. In recent times we've had the Netflix series Edgerunners, news about the expansion Phantom Liberty and the news that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 20 million copies. CD Projekt also stated that in September, one million people played daily, although it should be added that it was only a matter of a few days. The trend has continued and CD Projekt proudly states that one million have played Cyberpunk 2077 daily for four weeks. It's no shame for a game that had a chaotic launch and is almost two years old. A sequel was recently confirmed.
  9. In the same vein that Insomniac revealed Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with a release in 2023, they also confirmed Marvel's Wolverine in a nagging short teaser. That game was described in fall 2021 as "very early in development" . No date was mentioned. For its part, Microsoft claims that Insomniac and Playstation Studios plan to release this Marvel title as well in 2023. Tech4Gamer notes in documents regarding the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) that Wolverine and others will be released in the coming years. "Playstation also has a spate of first- and third-party exclusive titles lined up for launch in 2023, including Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Horizon, Final Fantasy XVI and Forspoken. Wild guess? A mistake? Or do they know something we don't? Most unclear.
  10. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum definitely has potential, even if what has been shown has not received a resoundingly positive reception. Everything from the graphics and Gollum's design to the game mechanics have received skeptical comments, and the latest we heard from developer Daedalic was that the game is being delayed (for the second time) indefinitely instead of releasing as planned on September 1st. However, Daedalic are hopeful and believe that the game may show the world what they are capable of creating in Tolkien's world, which they hope will lead to them telling another story there. In an interview with Gamesindustry , Jonas Hüsges says that a success with Gollum could lead to them tackling another part of the universe and telling a new story. But of course it depends on the game's reception and, above all, how well it sells. One should also bear in mind that Swedish Embracer is in the process of buying up Middle-earth Enterprises and thus many of the rights connected to Tolkien's works.
  11. There are a lot of ambitious mods out there, and Fallout has attracted quite a few such projects. One of those is Fallout: London, but if you want to go to warmer places, maybe Fallout: Miami would be something. The team has been working on this Fallout 4 project in their spare time for several years now, and a few days ago a new trailer was released. It doesn't show gameplay (although most people probably know what Fallout 4 looks like), but offers a glimpse of the different places we'll get to visit at Miami Beach. The mod will have a storyline to follow as well as side quests, voiced characters, new items and two factions: Nuclear Patriots and Enclave. The developers themselves say that the mod has the same scope as an official expansion. However, there is no release date, as projects like this completely rely on how much free time the developers can devote to it. However, they say they have internal goals, but they don't want to share them yet. The mod will only be released for pc, due to its size. More info on the official website.
  12. Everything is delayed. Most of the time. So it's perhaps not so surprising that worried fans are asking Insomniac on Twitter if the vague 2023 release window will hold for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. According to Insomniac, there is no cause for concern. "Good progress" is being made and they still hold 2023 as the release date for the sequel. Spider-Man 2 was unveiled in September last year and since then we haven't seen the smoke of another trailer, but that shouldn't be cause for concern - according to Insomniac. Anyone who wants a new (or at least "new") Spider-Man in the near future just has to wait another month. The PC release for Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set for November 18.
  13. In the first ten days, more than 25 million have played Overwatch 2, compared to the 15 million that attracted the original in the first three months. The bragging numbers come from Blizzard themselves, who claim that the sequel completely crushed the original's peak for concurrent players. Blizzard CEO Mike Ybarra says in a press release that the moment is important for Blizzard. "The launch of Overwatch 2 has been such an important moment for Blizzard. This is only the beginning—there are so many possibilities to explore in the world of Overwatch, and we cannot wait for players to experience everything the team is building for the live game. Worth mentioning is that the second is free-to-play, while the first was a game we bought. It should also be emphasized that the reporting about the game's problems is piled high. Blizzard has promised compensation in the form of double xp weekends. The Metacritic average is really low, but on the other hand, Blizzard is used to even lower averages . Whether this is a consolation is debatabl
  14. WB Games Montreal says that their upcoming Batman game (without Batman) will lack "performance mode" and the ability to choose between it and "quality mode". Gotham Knights will also be locked to 30 FPS on consoles. According to them, it's because of the co-op and cooperative nature of the game. The information about this was posted on their own discord and has since been spread via, among other things, twitter by others. In other words, they haven't released any official information about this (yet). Gotham Knights is unleashed on the world on October 21st, coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The game was supposed to be released on Xbox One and PS4 as well, but the developers decided to scrap the idea of releasing Gotham Knights on last-gen consoles. https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1581179543846498305
  15. Hellena Taylor has been Bayonetta 's voice in two games, but in the 3rd it is instead Jennifer Hale who does the witch's voice. It has been unclear why they switched voice actors. but at the same time, it has happened before in the gaming world that iconic voice actors have been replaced. Sometimes it can have to do with things as simple as scheduling conflicts, but in Taylor's case, it's all about the money. According to her, she was only offered $4,000 dollars to do the role. She posts this in a twitter post while rallying fans to boycott the game. These are harsh words from Taylor where she feels that Nintendo has not treated her well and also accuses Platinum Games of lying. As icing on the cake, she also sends a boot to Jennifer Hale and calls her "new girl" who has no right to call herself the voice of Bayonetta . Bayonetta 3 will be released on October 28th for the Nintendo Switch.
  16. Overwatch 2 is not even ten days old and has already managed to acquire a rich list of problems - which players will be compensated with via various cosmetic tinkering and double xp weekends. Now Blizzard is investigating another bug, which some PC players are forced to deal with. Blizzard reports computers shutting down or restarting when players play Overwatch 2. They encourage affected players to submit their DXDIAG, which you can do via Blizzard's forums. Blizzard has released several games that saw off the ankles, such as Diablo Immortal and the Warcraft 3 remaster. At the moment, the Metacritic score for Overwatch 2 is also abysmal. One possible fix we have already discussed:
  17. Disaster struck when promising wild west/fantasy shooter Evil West was delayed in August. The new release date was November 22nd, and now it looks like it will actually be held, as publisher Focus Entertainment has announced via Twitter that the game has gone gold – in other words, it's basically done, although of course they will continue with the polishing right up to the release. The game is being developed by Flying Wild Hog, who are mainly known for the Shadow Warrior games, but also released Trek to Yomi earlier this year. Evil West is just as goofy and action-oriented as Shadow Warrior, but skips the humor in favor of a darker and more serious atmosphere. It takes place in an alternate version of the Wild West where a group of vampire hunters try to protect the world from bloodsuckers and other monsters. So November 22nd it hits, and that's on Playstation 4/5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
  18. The latest Saints Row game has been out for a while now, but has mostly been met with a shrug of the shoulders and a hesitant "nahaaaa". In addition to not quite living up to its predecessors, many players have also complained about various bugs that mar the experience, including trains plowing through buildings, T-positions, and NPCs getting stuck in things. Help is on the way, though, and developer Volition says they're working hard to improve the experience and have heard all feedback. The focus is now on delivering improvements rather than new features, and the November update is expected to include more than 200 bug fixes and stability improvements. Among other things, they point out co-op as an area that should be improved. That said, there will also be some content-wise additions, including less repetition in certain activities, more rewarding challenges, improved vehicle handling, redesigned rumble and haptic feedback, and more. Next year we can also look forward to more action-based content, which can be accessed either through the game's Expansion Pass or separate purchases.
