Sony tweets about Bloodborne, then deletes the tweet
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in Sirmadsen's Blog
Many people agree that the number of remasters and remakes is often exaggerated. But! Just as many (at least) probably wouldn't turn down a PS5 remaster of Bloodborne , whose PS4 original hardly flows flawlessly on PS4. While you're at it: a PC version too, please. Rumors have come and gone but so far we have no Bloodborne remake in sight. Yesterday, however, Sony posted a tweet showing a cropped and zoomed-in image of Bloodborne 's cover, and the question: "Can you see that? Do you see which Playstation game we're zooming in on?" What knitting needles!? However, the tweet was taken down (for some reason) and we are left with a lot of unanswered questions. 4,000 shares were made and maybe someone got cold feet from a joke taken too far. Or did it mean "something"? We do not know. We may never get an answer. -
Rumor: Sony puts a stop to the Silent Hill 2 remake on the Xbox
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in Sirmadsen's Blog
The pie throwing between the two console giants continues and this time it is the upcoming, highly awaited Silent Hill 2 remake that is in focus. Microsoft now claims that they have evidence that Sony has bought exclusive rights to the game that will prevent a release on the Xbox. The same is also alleged to apply to Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII remake. "MS has already told CMA that Final Fantasy VII Remake cannot be released on Xbox. This is because Sony has signed an “Xbox exclusion” agreement with some third-party publishers for several games including FF VII Remake. It’s no secret that Sony has been on the war path since Microsoft initiated the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, something they firmly claim would damage the gaming market. Something they are obviously just as guilty of and where exactly this ever-scaling conflict is going to end, no one knows. Do you think there will be some breakthrough or consensus during the year new between the two parties, or will the battle escalate even more? -
Ncsoft is said to be working on a Horizon MMORPG with Sony
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in Sirmadsen's Blog
The rumors has once again blossomed, and this time in South Korea. It is the MTN (Korean) news site that reports that they have spoken to an insider who states that Ncsoft and Sony are discussing an MMORPG set in the Horizon world. In that case, the development would be handled by an internal team at Ncsoft, but the project still seems to be in its infancy and the company is now recruiting people. Ncsoft themselves say that they do not want to comment on unannounced projects that are under development, so the whole thing should of course be taken with a pinch of salt. Ncsoft has proper experience in the MMO genre, with games like Guild Wars, Lineage and Aion on the track record. They are also known for a long series of controversies and incidents, not least involving Ultima creator Richard Garriot, who was forced to leave the company under questionable circumstances and then successfully sued it for over $30 million.-

Geoff Keighley: More big acquisitions in the gaming world underway
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in Sirmadsen's Blog
We had barely been reached by the news that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard before Sony announced that they will buy Halo and Destiny developer Bungie. Shortly afterwards, Sony's CEO Jim Ryan went out and said they were not done with their acquisitions. Now the industry profile Geoff Keighley is joining. Via Twitter, he writes that he has heard from several sources that a number of major deals in the gaming world are in the final stages of their negotiations and that it "will be an interesting year". He does not explicitly say that these are regular acquisitions, but it could also be high-profile exclusivity agreements. Something we can safely state is that something that a race is ongoing between the giants of the gaming world. Given the size of the acquisitions, the next deal could also affect almost any player in the industry.-

Bungie helped put the first Xbox console on the map in 2001, with Halo: Combat Evolved. Now Sony and Playstation have bought the company, which today is most known for Destiny 2. It is Bloomberg who reveals the deal.

Sony expect Activision's games to continue to be multi-platform
SirMadsen posted a blog entry in Sirmadsen's Blog
Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard could have major consequences for Playstation: there is a risk that games and series such as Call of Duty, Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 will not be released for Sony's console. It will probably take at least until the deal is approved and completed before that issue is on the agenda, but Sony has already made it clear that they expect Activision's games to continue to come to Playstation. They also expect the agreements to be fulfilled. A spokesman for the Wall Street Journal (paywall) says: Microsoft said in the press release about the deal that they intend to continue to support communities on "a number of platforms", which should mean that games available on e.g. Playstation and Switch will continue to do so. But the question of what will happen to new games when the deal has gone through, there is no answer to now. In 2014, Mojang and Minecraft were bought by Microsoft, and it remains for Playstation, Nintendo and other platforms. The same goes for all Bethesda games that were out there when the company was bought 1.5 years ago. But - upcoming Starfield will be released exclusively for Xbox and Windows. So Diablo 4 and other heavyweights can probably cause headaches for the Sony camp for a while. What are your thoughts?
