  1. Last summer it was clear: neither we, Ubisoft nor Odin were finished with Eivor or Assassin's Creed Valhalla. In December, "the biggest Assassin's Creed expansion ever" was presented, with Dawn of Ragnarök. And now it's high time to dive deep into it.
The expansion Dawn of Ragnarök is bigger than many full-length games (around "35 hours"), and in the trailer we get a story background, game mechanical news and mythical views. In the expansion we mainly play as Odin who came to Svartalfheim to save his son, Baldr. There we meet, among other things, an "immortal" giant.
There are also rumors that a smaller Assassin's Creed is underway, with a richer stealth focus.
  2. The movie rights for "Lord of the Rings" are for sale
Some of Hollywood's most coveted movie rights are about to be sold. These are the books "The Lord of the Rings", "The Hobbit", "Silmarillion" and the author J.R.R. Tolkien's other works on the fantasy world Middle-earth. The rights include not only new feature films but also games, amusement parks, promotional items and toys as well as live events.
The current owner Saul Zaentz Co. will auction off their rights during the week. They are expected to raise at least $2 billion, according to Variety. Which studio or streaming service is entering the auction remains to be seen, but a potential buyer is Amazon, which is said to be a top candidate. Amazon Prime Video has already entered Tolkien's worlds with the TV series "Rings of Power" which will be released this autumn - thanks to a loophole that applied to TV series, they were able to set up a deal directly with Tolkien's estate.
The most famous film adaptations of Tolkien's work are Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy (2001-2003) and the "Hobbit" trilogy (2012-2014). But more is on the way: Warner Bros. is working on an animated film entitled "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim".
  3. Mario Kart turns 30 this year, and there is no indication that the genre dominant’s power is faltering – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 52 million copies! But soon another attempt is made to meet Nintendo’s dominance, and it is done by none other than Disney.
Dinsey Speestorm is the name of an arcade racer that will attract people in two ways – partly it is free to play, partly the content is based on material from Disney and Pixar’s well-known worlds. Ironically, the game was introduced during the Nintendo Direct stream earlier this week, and it will be released for Switch, PC and consoles this summer. The game supports crossplay across different platforms.

  4. The First Biomarker quest has three riddles you will need to solve in order to learn the safe code, and this guide will help you crack all three riddles from Dr Katsumi's note.
The First Biomarker quest is one of the early game missions in Dying Light 2 which is given to you by McGregor in Houndfield.
The first biomarker is supposedly a device that can reveal to people if they will turn into the Infected or if they are safe, but apparently, it also has some desirable side effects that will come in handy during your parkour adventures through the city.
The aforementioned NPC, McGregor, claims that he invented this powerful device, but the problem is that he needs someone to bring it back to him, as it is located in Saint Joseph Hospital, which is not exactly the safest place in the city.
That's where you and your parkour prowess jump in, as we are going to help him. Coming and entering Saint Joseph Hospital will not be a particularly complicated task, but what has many people confused are the three riddles from Dr Katsumi's note, which hide a solution for the safe cod in the hospital.
In order to find out what is the answer for the First Biomarker safe code riddle in Dying Light 2, we will need to solve all three riddles from Dr Katsumi's note.
Each riddle will give you one digit for the code (for a three-digit code) in the same order they are presented in the note.
    So, let's see the answers.
Riddle #1 -"What becomes smaller when you turn it upside down?" The correct answer here is nine (9) because when you flip it over it becomes the number six (6).
Riddle #2 - "An odd number, take away a letter and it becomes even." The answer is seven (7), because when we remove "s" what remains is the word "even".
Riddle #3 - "A little girl goes to the store and buys one dozen eggs. As she is going home, all but three eggs break. How many eggs are left unbroken?" The answer is simple, and it is already given in the riddle - "all but three eggs break" - which means that the final digit is three (3) since a dozen is six.
  5. It has probably not gone by anyone that almost no one is happy with Battlefield 2042 at present day, and yesterday it was clear that Dice is postponing season one to focus on patching. Whether the efforts are enough remains to be seen.
In a new financial report, Blake Jorgensen, CFO at EA, expresses the company's disappointment.
"We sold less units than we thought we would."
They do not want to go into concrete figures, but Andrew Wilson, CEO, adds that he believes in the game in the long run. He, EA and Dice thought the game was ready for release. They were wrong. But despite the misjudgment, EA and Dice are determined to make the game reach its full potential.

  6. We had barely been reached by the news that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard before Sony announced that they will buy Halo and Destiny developer Bungie. Shortly afterwards, Sony's CEO Jim Ryan went out and said they were not done with their acquisitions. Now the industry profile Geoff Keighley is joining.
Via Twitter, he writes that he has heard from several sources that a number of major deals in the gaming world are in the final stages of their negotiations and that it "will be an interesting year". He does not explicitly say that these are regular acquisitions, but it could also be high-profile exclusivity agreements.
Something we can safely state is that something that a race is ongoing between the giants of the gaming world. Given the size of the acquisitions, the next deal could also affect almost any player in the industry.

  7. Australia is the latest country to get graphical enhancements and other goodies in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It is called World Update 7, and in addition to nicer and more realistic graphics in many parts of the country, it contains four hand-made airports, lots of attractions, new Bush Trips, Discover Flights and Landing Challenges. With more.
In addition to attractions such as the Sydney Opera House, Ayers Rock (or Uluru) and Bondi Beach, you can take a look at Tasmania and swing past the Great Barrier Reef. As usual, the update is free.
There will be more World Updates like this in the future. In number eight, it's time for the Iberian Peninsula (Spain, Portugal), and it is believed to release at the end of March. A number of other news and updates are planned for the year. Keep an eye on the blog for changelog, planning and other information.

  8. The magazine Hollywood Reporter writes that the rights to American McGee's Alice have been acquired, and that one of the X-Men and Watchmen screenwriters, David Hayter, will now make a TV series of the crazy-acclaimed games Alice and the sequel Alice: Madness Returns. Hayter:
The games are known to be based on Lewis Carroll's twisted tales from the middle of the 19th century, but a really dark twist made American McGee an acclaimed game creator in the early 00's. The TV series will take over where Alice left Wonderland to find her house burnt down, and her parents killed in the fire. Alice is of course quite upset about all this and is put in a mental hospital, but once there she meets the white rabbit again and is dragged on escapades, back to Wonderland. A really twisted wonderland…
In recent years, American McGee has seen the most in the media as he has tried to persuade developers to throw money at another sequel and his version of The Wizard of Oz, but the question is whether he can not row home a mafia big man now. McGee comments on the TV series:
No television company has yet taken on the task of producing and broadcasting Alice. Will EA finance a third game if the TV series is a success?
  9. Microsoft Flight Simulator took the world by storm both when it was initially released for PC and the following year for Xbox Series X / S. Aircraft pilots have really been able to live out their dreams, but helicopter pilots have been left without, except for player-created creations. This year, however, it will be over, because Asobo says that they plan to implement helicopters this autumn.
However, a lot of work is required before that is possible, and they have already started working on improving how propellers are simulated, which is important for helicopters to work as they should. These improvements will also be used for the aircraft to make the simulation more realistic.
All PC gamers who really like to cream on with all eye candy can also look forward to supporting the upscaling technology DLSS. We have no set date for that, but the support will be implemented sometime this year.

  10. Forget Noah Centineo. Now it is clear that the actor Kyle Allen will bring to life the action character He-Man in the upcoming "Masters of the Universe", according to the site People.
It promises "an epic live-action tale" about orphan Adam who "discovers that he is a prince, and must quickly learn his powers to save a foreign land from evil."
"Masters of the Universe" will be the first major film about He-Man since Dolph Lundgren played the muscular hero in "He-Man - The Ruler of the Universe" in 1987. In recent years, Noah Centineo was linked to the role, but he dropped out last spring without a known reason. Instead, Kyle Allen (from "West Side Story" and upcoming "Rosaline") now has to shoulder the iconic role.
Not only that, the film moves from Sony to the streaming service Netflix, where He-Man already houses an animated version in the TV series "Masters of the Universe: Revelation".
The film is directed by brothers Aaron and Adam Nee ("The Lost City") based on a screenplay they write with David Callaham ("Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"). Recording begins this summer
    Masters of the Universe
  11. Last year's Mortal Kombat movie got a perfectly acceptable reception. Despite the boring main character Cole Young, the film made a fair amount of income and Warner Bros was pleasantly surprised. The film's layout clearly showed that they had sequels in mind, and now they have confirmed (via Deadline) that work on it has begun and that Jeremy Slater will write the script.
Slater has co-written and produced the upcoming superhero miniseries Moon Knight and was involved in The Umbrella Academy, The Exorcist series and the Fantastic Four movie.
We do not know which of the actors will return for the second film, but Joe Taslim - who played Sub-Zero - has at least stated that he signed contracts for no less than five films. That, of course depends on how the well received the upcoming movies will be.
  12. Elden Ring has gone gold and is thus most likely to be released as planned on 25 February. In an interview with the game's producer, Yasuhiro Kitao, he recently said that the game will be Dark Souls - difficult, but also less stressful. In the same interview, he also mentioned the length of the game, which is undoubtedly an important aspect for many players.
[su_quote]It will vary greatly from player to player, but when it comes to goals we set during the development, the idea is that the main route should be able to be completed in around 30 hours.
The game as a whole is very large and contains dozens more hours of gaming, but if we only talk about the main route, it should not take much longer than that.[/su_quote]
30 hours if you play through the plot without letting yourself be lured on wrong paths (an imminent risk), which can probably be classified as quite long. But just like Kitao says, it also tends to vary greatly depending on the player, especially if you have a predilection for dying 99 times per boss.
Will Elden Ring live up to the hype?
  13. In 2020, we saw a picture of a Boba, a leaked screenshot that allegedly showed a Boba Fat-like character in the disused Star Wars 1313 game, which would take place in Coruscant's Underworld.
Now, additional prototype material from the game has seen the light of day, and it looks more and more like it was a Boba character who took over the lead role since the acclaimed, first demo. In the gameplay prototype, we see the main character move through different (unfinished) environments, as well as hunt villains and show different animations.
1313 never got off anyway, but as many as eight other Star Wars games are currently under development. Among other things, we were met this week by the news that Respawn ( Titanfall ) has a role in three Star Wars titles.
  14. Crysis 4 announced!

There will be a fourth part in the Crysis series! Crytek has just announced that they have started working on a new instance in the action series. A Crysis 4 if you like, even if an official name does not yet exist.
The game was not very subtly hinted at in a teaser that appeared on Youtube yesterday, and now the company's CEO Avni Yerli has lifted the lid and officially announced the game. He writes that it is early in the development and we therefore do not know when it may be completed. Not much else for that matter either, but we should still dare to believe that it will be heavy high tech action and really damn nice graphics.
Crytek is also looking for employees who can help with the project. Interested? Read more here.
  15. After last week’s news that Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard, there will now be more news about the Diablo and WoW developer: the studio will make a completely new survival game.
A press release says that this is a survival game for PC and console. It’s located in a whole new game world, so it is not based on any of the company’s already well-used brands. It’s still early in the development and they reveal nothing about setting or anything else. In connection with the announcement, they are looking for employees in several areas.

  16. That Respawn Entertainment makes the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been known for a long time. But now EA reveals that it is only the first of a total of three Star Wars games that the Titanfall and Apex Legends studio are involved in.
The second game is a first person shooter. No other details, other than that it is done by a new team at Respawn under the leadership of game director Peter Hirschmann (who was involved in the VR shooter Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond).
Game number three is a strategy game, and Respawn seems to have more of a producer role. The development is managed by the newly started Bit Reactor, a studio run by Greg Foerstch who has been art director at Firaxis (not unknown in strategy contexts). Again, we do not get any details about either the name or layout of the game.
    This is what EA says:

  17. Techland's zombie parkour game Dying Light 2 - Stay Human is only a week away from release. The developers are happy to say that those who buy the Playstation 4 and Xbox One version will be able to upgrade to the Series X / S and PS5 version completely free of charge if needed later.
However, it is a bit unclear what exactly the changes will be between the versions, but in the trailer below, three different graphics settings have been shown. Wild guess is that it is these three settings that will be found on the next-gen consoles.

The trailer is for Playstation, but we guess the exact same settings will be available on Xbox Series X / S as well.
Techland also took the opportunity to talk about cross-play. Unfortunately, the game will not support cross-play between consoles and not across generations. However, it will support cross-play on PC between Steam and Epic Game Store players.
Dying Light 2 - Stay Human releases read the zombie hordes on February 4th and has been released in all formats (even if the Switch owners have to settle for a streaming version).
  18. Blizzard has slipped here and there in recent years, and not least the entire Activision Blizzard has had its eyes on it after reports of a deeply problematic workplace. Last week, however, it was all about how Microsoft intends to buy the questionable gaming giant for a breathtaking 68 billion dollars.
Will it be a fresh start for Blizzard?
Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra, who is the sole boss after Jen Oneal's resignation, writes that the company has taken steps to "rebuild trust". You look ahead, but do not close your eyes to what has happened.
The focus is on doing their best, both for the players and the employees, writes Ybarra.
The foundation is laid for the latter by creating a "safe, inclusive and creative" work environment, where employees should be able to continuously evaluate the management of the company. Whether you succeed or not remains to be seen, because there is, after all, a difference between fine words and actual changes.
Blizzard is currently developing Diablo IV and Overwatch 2, among others.
  19. Whatever one personally thinks of Battlefield 2042, there is no denying that the game has had problems and it can be seen both in sales and in the player base. EA also does not seem happy with DICE's latest work and is currently thinking about what to do with the game. According to a tweet from Battlefield leak Tom Henderson, he says that EA is even considering turning the game into free-to-play.
It remains to be seen what EA thinks, but something radical must probably be done. It's not a good sign when people go back to 2018's Battlefield 5 instead of playing the newest game in the series.

  20. After repeated delays, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has once again been given a release date - April 5 will be the premiere.
The game deals with all nine movies in the Star Wars story, and you can play them in any order you like. In other words, you will encounter a long line of famous figures, planets and ships from George Lucas' life's work, and it is all packed in a new game engine.
You have a nice gameplay trailer above. If it arouses the desire to buy, the game will be available for PC, Playstation (4 and 5), Xbox (Series and One) and Nintendo Switch.
  21. Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard could have major consequences for Playstation: there is a risk that games and series such as Call of Duty, Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 will not be released for Sony's console.
It will probably take at least until the deal is approved and completed before that issue is on the agenda, but Sony has already made it clear that they expect Activision's games to continue to come to Playstation. They also expect the agreements to be fulfilled. A spokesman for the Wall Street Journal (paywall) says:
Microsoft said in the press release about the deal that they intend to continue to support communities on "a number of platforms", which should mean that games available on e.g. Playstation and Switch will continue to do so. But the question of what will happen to new games when the deal has gone through, there is no answer to now.
In 2014, Mojang and Minecraft were bought by Microsoft, and it remains for Playstation, Nintendo and other platforms. The same goes for all Bethesda games that were out there when the company was bought 1.5 years ago. But - upcoming Starfield will be released exclusively for Xbox and Windows. So Diablo 4 and other heavyweights can probably cause headaches for the Sony camp for a while.
    What are your thoughts?
    [button size="medium" style="primary" text="Discuss the topic in the forums" link="https://beta.throneofgeeks.com/forum/topic/sony-expect-activisions-games-to-continue-to-be-multi-platform-2/?part=1#postid-11" target=""]
  22. Diablo 4 looks set to be released in 2023 at the earliest, as it's one of Blizzard's most anticipated upcoming games. Therefore, for natural reasons, they do not want to release a blunder, but a stable foundation on which they can build for many years.
But we can at least enjoy that no less than nine minutes of new gameplay has been released. This is thanks to Blizzard's quarterly update for the game, which in addition to information about some of the game's various systems also includes several shorter videos that show how the game has developed in recent months.
It includes, among other things, how magic and other things bounce light on the environment and how different attackers' "hit boxes" have been refined to better match the animation. Visually, it looks like it will be a really cool experience, so we can hope that the game mechanics keep pace.

  23. As previously promised, Techland has recently released a 15-minute gameplay trailer for the upcoming Dying Light 2: Stay Human ( here is one of the previous ones). The demonstration seems to take place fairly early in the game and shows how the player gets a flight screen to be able to get from roof to roof more easily. The flight screen can advantageously be controlled over various warm air currents which, among other things, air conditioners seem to spit out, in order to extend the flight and get some height.
It all leads to a transformer station where the player encounters one of the factions in the game, Peacekeepers. Then it becomes a fight, where we get to see everything from jump kicks to how the duck hook can be used to get enemies out of balance. This is followed by a simpler puzzle where electrical cables must be routed to the right place.
When it's done, the player can choose which faction will benefit from this transformer station, which this time is Peacekeepers or Survivors. Both come with different benefits, which in Peacekeepers' case is that they install "car traps" in all zones they control, while Survivors place airbags in all their zones.
The game has recently " gone gold ", which means that it is, more or less, ready to be pressed on record. With that said, Techland is learning to work on it fully with its day 1 patch so that it is ready just in time for the release on February 4. It comes to Playstation 4/5, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch (via streaming).

  24. Until very recently, the somewhat misleading name Playstation Mobile has been the sender of all Playstation Steam games. Now, instead, Playstation PC is stepping up as publisher, which feels more logical. Unless Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, God of War and two Uncharteds were proof enough, we can probably state that, yes, Playstation games on PC are here to stay.
According to VGC , the name Playstation PC was registered already in April, but only now is it used sharply. It remains to be seen exactly how much Sony will use the name, because if we look at the collection page on Steam , it is Playstation Studios ( also relatively new , for that matter) that stands out above all.
Sony has said that more PC games are coming. Maybe a Spider-Man game will be revealed next?
  25. There are few games that have received such long-term support from the developers as Dying Light. They have ensured that the game has received updates and expansions for a full four years. Techland intends to give the sequel Dying Light 2: Stay Human at least as long-term support. Namely, they promise to support the game for a full five years after it is released. In an interview on the podcast Prankster101, Tymon Smektala said:
"Dying Light 1 was supported for four years after its release, and the plan for Dying Light 2 is exactly the same. We want this game to be supported after its release. We know that a lot of fans will be waiting for DLCs, updates, extra stuff they can get their hands on. And we promise to deliver them just that."
