We had barely been reached by the news that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard before Sony announced that they will buy Halo and Destiny developer Bungie. Shortly afterwards, Sony's CEO Jim Ryan went out and said they were not done with their acquisitions. Now the industry profile Geoff Keighley is joining.

Via Twitter, he writes that he has heard from several sources that a number of major deals in the gaming world are in the final stages of their negotiations and that it "will be an interesting year". He does not explicitly say that these are regular acquisitions, but it could also be high-profile exclusivity agreements.

Something we can safely state is that something that a race is ongoing between the giants of the gaming world. Given the size of the acquisitions, the next deal could also affect almost any player in the industry.
