  1. In an interview with Ausgamers , design manager Mark Tucker says that they have long plans for the game.
Tucker states that he is currently working on a "roadmap" for the game, and that it extends as far as five years into the future. He says that these are actually two separate roadmaps - one for three years and one for five - and that things get a little more fuzzy the further into the future you go.
That's not to say that the game is guaranteed to be updated with new content for another five years, but it's undeniably a reassuring sign for those who want to continue their adventures in West Virginia.
This year's first major update, Invaders from Beyond, has already been released and revolves around alien invaders. Later this year, expeditions to the The Pitt area as well as visits to the Nuka World tour await, in addition to other, smaller events.
  2. Google will present a Windows "emulator" on Tuesday next week, during the Google for Games Developer Summit. One of the points on the program is namely "how to write a Windows emulator for Linux from scratch".
This may mean that Stadia will be able to run Windows games. If Google has actually created an emulator or a compatibility layer, it will be easier for developers to release their games for Stadia, as they do not have to port the games to Google's Linux-based machines.
For users, this could mean that the range is expanded at a faster pace than today and that more developers jump on the Stadia train.
  3. It's of course about exploring, Elden Ring. To experience and discover at your own pace the myriad of strange places and creatures that populate the sad world. But of course it is also about finding out what comes next (and for some also about crossing boundaries that the developer set).
Northeast of the game's launch area, for example, is a large building that no one has entered. It looks like a Roman arena, a colosseum, with a single miserable figure in front who only says the cryptic:
Lance McDonald have managed to record a video from inside the building (which no one should be able to enter). Thanks to this, many have come to the conclusion that this is an area to be accessible via a DLC, AND that it should have PvP functions. Makes sense, really.
    What are your thoughts?

  4. Samsung now confirms that the company has suffered a data breach, which among other things resulted in them being robbed of internal company data and source code for Galaxy devices. The hacker group Lapsus$, which recently broke in and stole data from Nvidia, has claimed responsibility for the intrusion, but Samsung itself has not said anything about who is behind the intrusion.
The hackers have released more than 190 gigabytes of data that was stolen during the breach, including source code used for encryption and for biometric unlocking of Galaxy devices. However, there is no information on how much information was stolen and what it covers. Samsung says, however, that no personal information has been leaked, either regarding customers or employees. They also say that the intrusion will not affect the company or their customers, and that measures have been taken to stop future attacks.
  5. AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 3D V-cache caught on picture. The processor is also claimed to be completely without support for overclocking.
AMD is expected to launch its first consumer V-cache 3D processor soon. This goes by the name Ryzen 7 5800X3D and offers a total of 100 MB of cache. This is because AMD has stacked extra cache circuits on top of the existing processor. However, the extra 64 MB of cache comes with its own drawbacks. AMD seems to have had to turn down the clock frequencies a bit to handle the heat generation and allow the processor to cool down properly. Now the processor is also claimed to be completely without any support for overclocking.

The information comes from the same person who published the above image which is said to show a disassembled 5800X3D. Whether this is actually true or not remains to be seen. One explanation may also be that the person has come across an engineering copy of the processor. An engineering copy where overclocking has simply not been implemented yet.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D will offer eight cores and 16 wires. This together with a clock frequency of 3.4 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.5 GHz. As previously mentioned, the processor comes with a total of 100 MB of cache memory and its TDP has been listed by AMD as 105 W. Exactly when the launch will take place is unclear at the time of writing and its price tag as well. However, it has been rumored that it will land at around 450 dollars and that its sibling Ryzen 7 5800X will get a price reduction for not being at the same level.
  6. "It's a really cool concept," says the actor, who gets to revisit one of his best films, fifteen years later.
15 years after the dystopian thriller "I Am Legend", it is now ready for a sequel. The news that was released last week came as a happy surprise to many fans, but perhaps the most surprised is Will Smith himself.

In an interview with ET Online, the actor says that he could not say no when Michael B. Jordan presented his pitch:

    - It's a really cool concept. He was involved in creating that idea. It was one of those movies I had left behind, but then I heard the idea and ... "It can work!"
Smith does not want to share any details yet - and several big questions remain. Did not his character die at the end of "I Am Legend"? Well… at least in the cinema version (there is an alternative version where the lone researcher Robert Neville survives). Many years ago there was talk of a prequel, so who knows - maybe we'll go back in time before New York was completely destroyed? Or has he been cloned? In the sci-fi world, anything is possible.

At least it's clear that "I Am Legend 2" brings Will Smith together with Michael B. Jordan ("Black Panther", "Creed"), and with two of Hollywood's brightest stars, it is set for another cinematic success. The first film grossed $585 million worldwide, on a budget of $150 million. The script is written again by Akiva Goldsman. Who directs remains to be seen.
  7. It was announced in 2020 and should actually have been released last year, but delays got in the way, as for many other titles during the pandemic. But now WB Games Montreal has confirmed that it will be released this year, specifically October 25.
Close to Halloween, which may be appropriate. Because Batman has died in the game, which makes Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin step up to take care of the horrors of Gotham, and then maybe mainly mr. Freeze.
The game will be able to run in both co-op and single-play, and characters will be able to level up. The title is described as an open world game with role-playing elements and Gotham should be both a dynamic and interactive city. How much of what is true remains to be seen.
The game will be released on October 25, and then to PlayStation 4 and 5, all three current Xbox consoles and PC.

  8. Today, patch 3.3 was released for Battlefield 2042, a month and a half after the last one. It's a fairly small update, with an updated scoreboard as the main bait.
In addition, some skins are released for those who bought more expensive versions of the game, and a handful of bug fixes:
    General
Fixed a game crash that could occur on Origin or Xbox One when signing in/out while using an Xbox One controller Setting “Chat” Key Bindings no longer requires a game restart to take effect Adjusted Aim Assist on console to ensure that the system is in effect when analogue sticks are at 100% of their range. Previously it was only active at ranges below 100% Fixed a bug where takedowns would not result in a kill on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 Established new location for our EU Data Centre as Frankfurt Modes
Conquest & Breakthrough - fixed a bug where the Securing Objective XP-event was triggered even after a Capture Point was already fully captured Hazard Zone - fixed a visual bug displaying squad mates during the match found sequence Hazard Zone - fixed a bug where the End of Round XP gains sometimes didn’t trigger
If the list feels meager, you will have to recalibrate to April, when a much more nutritious update sees the light of day (if the forecast holds). It should include "a larger amount of changes and fixes", VOIP support for squads and additional scoreboard changes. It also suggests balance changes for weapons and vehicles, and a revised system for how attachments to weapons work. No promises for the last one, though.
If Dice and EA are seriously looking to attract people back to BF2042, much faster and bigger news than this is needed. The game is booming around 1,300 - 2,000 players per day on Steam, according to SteamDB. The game is available in more places (Origin, as well as on Playstation and Xbox) so the total number of players is higher. At the same time, the Steam numbers can be compared to Battlefield V which has about ten times more players.
What kind of changes do you want to see?
  9. "Bundle for Ukraine" gives you more than 1000 games, books, role-playing games and more - for a paltry 10 dollars!
700 game creators, writers and other creators have joined forces to create a bundle, for the benefit of the civilian population of Ukraine. Via Itch.io you can buy more than 1000 games (around 600), books, role-playing games and more - for a 10 dollars! You are of course encouraged to pay more, but that is the minimum fee.
The package includes well-known products such as Kingdom Two Crowns, Backbone, Cloud Gardens and Superhot. The proceeds are divided into two, between the International Medical Corps and the Ukrainian Voices of Children, an organization aimed at children.
"International Medical Corps provides medical assistance in the region. They have very low fundraising overhead (1% of income), with 89% of donations going to medical aid and 10% to administration.
Voices of Children, a Ukrainian organization that helps children cope with the horrors of war, PTSD, readjusting to school, and getting back to being kids. They have also been doing a lot of grassroots impromptu work during the war, such as helping set up shelters. Our hope is that this war will be over soon, and they can begin the work of healing these kids' hearts."
  10. Earlier today, Blizzard revealed that the ninth and next (but certainly not last) World of Warcraft expansion will be unveiled on April 19. There will be more WoW news, as Blizzard confirms that they will show the World of Warcraft game in mobile format in May. Exactly what it will look like is anybody's guess, but the project has been going on for a long time.
There have been rumors of a Pokémon Go clone (thank you, Eurogamer), but Bobby Kotick has also said that there are "several mobile free-to-play Warcraft experiences" planned. Promise? Threat? We shall see.
As early as March 15, the next Hearthstone expansion will be unveiled and "shortly thereafter" we will get a deeper insight into the plans for the game for the remainder of 2022. At the same time, the wait for some form of Diablo IV or Overwatch 2 news continues. It has previously sounded like they are not too far away.
  11. Following last week's Russian invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv-based GSC Game World has halted the development of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The company says in a video that it helps the employees and their families to survive, and that the game development must be set aside.
The video begins with sequences from motion capture recordings to the game, but soon turns to showing clips from the war. It ends with the promise that work on the game will continue "after the victory". The film, which can be perceived as unpleasant, can be seen on Youtube.
Stalker 2 has a release date of December 8th. But far more important than a release date for a game is that the war ends.

  12. After the successful start last month (with associated long server queues), Lost Ark will soon have new content. In March, both new content and a bunch of bug fixes will be released. The date they will be released will be announced later and then we will also receive the entire change list. There will also be a roadmap that outlines the direction in the coming months. But already now we get to know a little about what awaits.
There is more story material. Kadan is a new storyline with new quests and you will then visit the islands Isteri and Illusion Bamboo. This requires you to pass the continent of Feiton and three quests, and your item level should be at least 1,100. Furthermore, there will be new engame material in the form of Abyss Raids. There are time-limited battles against strong monsters and made for eight players. You can read more about both of these content updates here.
About the update, it is announced that there may be a solution to problems with matchmaking on the European servers. It is being tested and if it works well, it will be announced as soon as possible. There is also talk of continued long queues for the European servers. It is difficult to get more players in there and more servers can not be added, so the developers try to make the experience as good as possible for those who actually come in, they say. That, and some other update news, you have here.
The free to play MMO Lost Ark attracted 1.3 million Steam players simultaneously shortly after its February 11 premiere. Of course, the number has dropped since then, but with about 550,000 players at the same time recently and about 800,000 - 900,000 at most per day in the last week, it is still a force to be reckoned with.
  13. Microsoft Flight Simulator became one of 2020's hottest titles and stunned the world with its astonishing world. However, proper hardware is required to run it, whether it comes from an Xbox Series X / S or a PC. But now there is another way to enjoy the game, via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
This means that you can stream the game from an Xbox One, less powerful PC or mobile phones and tablets that are supported, which since last year include both Android and iOS. To use Xbox Cloud Gaming, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is required - so a regular Game Pass subscription is not enough.
  14. Polish 11 Bit Studio's popular This War of Mine is on sale on Steam. You get the full game, season pass and DLC's for 18,57€, roughly $20. Not only that, the developers will use 100% of the income for the next 7 days to help victims in Ukraine.
There's really no questions to be asked here. Buy the game and show your support, not only to the Ukraine people but also to a developer and their game which is very much about what is going on in the world right now.
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/282070/This_War_of_Mine/
"For the next seven days, all profits from This War of Mine, all its DLSs, on all stores and all platforms will go to a special fund. A week from now, this money will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross to directly support victims of war in Ukraine."
  15. The developer Crate Entertainment has so far only Grim Dawn on the merit list, even if it is not so "just". The game and its expansions have become very popular, but now it's soon time for Crate Entertainment to release its second game. It goes by the name Farthest Frontier, and is a city builder in medieval environments that was announced last year.
The first gameplay trailer is now here, and shows how we will be able to go from a smaller, undeveloped settlement to a full-fledged medieval city. However, the journey there is not likely to be completely smooth, and in addition to the obligatory production of food, we must also beware of fires, wild animals and attacking bandits. We will be able to grow ten different crops, and will be able to use crop rotation to keep the soil fertile. Frost and heat are also aspects we must take into account.
The game will be released in early access on Steam this year, where it will probably remain for 4-8 months, depending on how much needs to be changed or added. They estimate that there will be around ten hours of content at the early access release.
  16. Lego Star Wars have gone gold

The level of ambition is almost palpable in the new Lego Star Wars, as the game includes all nine movies in the Skywalker saga. In addition, rebuilt from the ground up, despite the fact that seven of the films have already been played and (not infrequently) praised in Lego game form. April 5 is the time. Let's hope that Power is with the game.

  17. Scientists believe they know which year the asteroid that killed all the dinosaurs collided with Earth.
    - It is a combination of evidence that allows us to now say when it happened, says Melanie During, researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden.
According to the latest estimate, the asteroid that exterminated 76 percent of all species crashed into the earth 66,043 +/- 0.043 million years ago. There is thus an uncertainty of up to 86,000 years in the calculation. Despite this, researchers now believe they are sure that it happened during the boreal spring, that is, when it is spring in the northern hemisphere.
How come? One wonders. Melanie During, who works at the Center for Evolutionary Biology at Uppsala University and is the first author of the study now presented in the journal Nature, tells of a place in southwestern North Dakota in the United States, where there is an almost unlikely accumulation of fossils in what once was time was a lake.
    - The place is called Tanis and there, at Hell Creek, we find lots of fossilized dinosaur teeth, shark teeth and fish. Everything is gathered in one place and most of all these animals died at the same time, just minutes after the impact, she says.
    How do you know that?
    - You can compare the impact with throwing a bowling ball in a sandbox. Enormous amounts of molten rock and soil were thrown into space, says Melanie During.
Once there, they solidified and formed small glass-like hollow bullets. After between 15 and 30 minutes, the bullets fell to the ground over large areas. Many of the animals that died and fossilized in Tanis were fish.
    - These bullets are called tektites. Previous research has shown that they can only be formed in space. On Earth, they become completely flat, due to gravity. If you look at the gills in these fossilized fish, you see round tektites everywhere. They are not found in the digestive system, but only in the gills, which means that the tektites came right at the moment of death, says Melanie During.

Melanie During researches at the Evolutionary Biology Center in Uppsala.
Probably, she says, the fish died from these tektites in combination with the big wave that washed over the area.
    - There was no tsunami, but the shock wave was so great that the water in the lake shook back and forth, from one side to the other. The same phenomenon can be seen in swimming pools in connection with earthquakes. The scale was probably more than ten meters high and buried all living things in its path.
Some of the fossilized fish are different types of sturgeon that died 'a lot' minutes after the collision. These fish have the property that they grow seasonally, starting in the spring. Growth then peaks during the summer, when the supply of food is at its greatest, and then begins to decline in the autumn. In winter, when there is a shortage of food, they hardly grow at all.
    - It can be seen in the skeleton, much like the annual rings on a tree, says Melanie During.
Based on this knowledge, the researchers then analyzed the relationship between two different types of carbon in the skeleton of a number of fossils.
    - But we did not look at carbon-14, which gave rise to the carbon-14 method, but at carbon-12 and -13. Carbon-12 uses the fish to make sugar, while the other carbon variant is built into the skeleton, says Melanie During.
The ratio between these two isotopes thus varies depending on how the fish grows during the year. On one and the same fish, the researchers were able to follow the growth up to seven years back in time.
    - All fish stopped growing exactly between the lowest value in the winter and the highest value in the summer, that is, in the spring, she continues.
From the fact that she and her colleagues think they know that the geological age Mesozoic (which contains the periods Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous) ended in the spring and not at any other time of the year.
    What does it matter?
    - This bang has employed researchers for decades. One of all the questions is how come all the dinosaurs died, except those who became birds. The mammals that existed at this time, as well as the crocodiles and turtles, also survived. We do not know why, but the time of year may have mattered. Future research will show that.

  19. The long-awaited Horizon Forbidden West is released. The idea was that we would have to revisit Aloy and the gang as early as 2021, but the game was delayed until now instead. According to a Dutch newspaper NU, the game was delayed to avoid "crunch" and overtime for the workers. The newspaper interviewed Mathijs de Jonge and he said this:
The so-called "cruch culture" is a hot topic in the gaming world that also gets a lot of criticism. There has been a tradition that you basically work day and night the last weeks (sometimes months) to get the projects done,  at the expense of workers' health.
  20. It has long been confirmed that Amazon is working on a TV series based on Fallout. The last we heard was that Jonathan Nolan will direct the series. Jonathan is the brother of the more famous Christopher Nolan. He has also worked a lot with his brother and helped in many of his films and projects.
Now it has been confirmed that the actor Walton Goggins has signed for a lead role, he is known for Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, The Shield and Sons of Anarchy. There are also rumors that he will play a so-called ghoul, but this is something that has not yet been confirmed.
Amanzon aims for the series to go into production this year, which means that it will be a while before it reaches us viewers.
  21. The action star puzzles his fans with a poster and a release date.
It looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger has shifted to another iconic role. In an acclaimed post in his social channels, he presents a project that has so far been top secret: "Zeus". A well-made poster made for a Ridley Scott epic or a Marvel role shows the now 74-year-old action icon in the role of the king of the gods from Greek mythology. There is very little other information here except that the premiere will take place in "February 2022".
But could this be a new big movie that they managed to record completely in secret? Hardly.
The fans' guessing games are already underway. Some hope that Arnold is part of Disney's upcoming "Percy Jackson" series, others are amused by the idea of a connection to "King Fury 2". Now do not get too excited, because the truth is probably not as exciting. The star who began his film career as "Hercules in New York" in 1970 would undeniably have a full role in the role of Zeus, but this is probably just a PR trick. Considering "February", we guess Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear in a lavish commercial during the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks.
Among Arnold's "real" projects in the future is a spy series on Netflix that should be released during the year. We are also waiting for the sequel to "King Fury" by Swedish David Sandberg, where he will have a big role.

  22. Microsoft has the spending pants on and is not content with having pinched Zenimax and Bethesda. Now they also announce that they intend to buy Activision Blizzard for 68.7 billion dollars. In a post on the Xbox website, they write that the companies will continue to act independently of each other until the deal is completed.
Furthermore, they write that they aim to offer as many of Activision Blizzard's games as possible via Game Pass to Xbox and PC, including new and old titles. Activision Blizzard is based in many traditional studios and valuable brands, such as Warcraft, Diablo, Call of Duty and Overwatch, so Game Pass can undoubtedly get a real boost if the deal goes through.
In the post, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer also writes that creative success and self-reliance go hand in hand with treating all people with respect, which unfortunately does not seem to have been the motto of Activision Blizzard in recent years. He points out that all teams and leaders are expected to live up to this and that they look forward to spreading Microsoft's corporate culture to the teams at Activision Blizzard. However, everyone's favorite CEO Bobby Kotick is reported to remain in office, at least for the time being.
  23. Amazon Studios has launched a new Blade Runner series, with Ridley Scott as executive producer. Scott may also direct some episodes. The series takes place 50 years after Blade Runner 2049, and will thus be called Blade Runner 2099, according to Deadline.
The series should reportedly have high priority, and want to get the series out as soon as possible. The series is still in the script stage, but Amazon have started looking at possible dates for the start of production.
There is no release date yet - not so strange considering the still early stage.
  24. The film "What's My Name" lets the Hollywood icon look back on his life, and is reunited with several of the other action stars he met during his career.
Actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme has decided to put his film career behind him. According to Deadline, the 61-year-old will soon make his last role in the genre where he has become a big icon, in an action film entitled "What's My Name".
In the film, Van Damme will play a fictional version of himself, who wakes up with a severe memory loss after a car accident. In search of his own identity and purpose, he encounters several of the people he has fought against during his career, before the journey finally leads to his last match.
Van Damme has played himself a number of times before, most recently in the series "Jean-Claude Van Johnson", where he lived a double life as a movie star and dangerous private detective. According to the actor himself, "What's My Name" is more inspired by his real life, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, while the film is a look back at his long career, which took off in the 80's.
    - We will take in real elements from my life and what happened to me. I came from Belgium, all the way to Hollywood. I succeeded, I failed and I came back, says Van Damme to Deadline.
Exactly which other actors will appear is not confirmed, but the expectation is that "What's My Name" will reunite Van Damme with several other Hollywood stars he met during his career. Whether this can include Swedish Dolph Lundgren, who has played against Van Damme in films such as "Universal Soldier" and "Black Water", remains to be seen.
Van Damme's most recent role was in the action comedy "The Last Mercenary", which was released on Netflix last year. This summer, he appears as one of the voices in the animated "Minions: The Story of Gru".
  25. Halo's original composers Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori have sued Microsoft for 20 years of missing royalites. The case will be taken up next week and could potentially go to court if the parties do not agree. According to O'Donnell and Salvatori, they own the rights, while Microsoft says that they are only employees and thus that Microsoft is the owners of the rights.
This is what O'Donnell says about the situation:
According to O’Donnell, this also extends to the upcoming TV series that he says this about:
Those who has seen the trailer has probably wondered why it lacks Halo music and the lawsuit would very well be the reason why when this lawsuit was sent in already in 2020. Then the question is whether O'Donnell and Salvatori can be right in substance as far as (as they claim is) a copied driving-loop in the trailer, this remains to be seen.
