The Mortal Kombat movie gets a sequel
Last year's Mortal Kombat movie got a perfectly acceptable reception. Despite the boring main character Cole Young, the film made a fair amount of income and Warner Bros was pleasantly surprised. The film's layout clearly showed that they had sequels in mind, and now they have confirmed (via Deadline) that work on it has begun and that Jeremy Slater will write the script.
Slater has co-written and produced the upcoming superhero miniseries Moon Knight and was involved in The Umbrella Academy, The Exorcist series and the Fantastic Four movie.
We do not know which of the actors will return for the second film, but Joe Taslim - who played Sub-Zero - has at least stated that he signed contracts for no less than five films. That, of course depends on how the well received the upcoming movies will be.
