Star Wars Outlaws missions locked to expensive versions receive criticism - Ubisoft responds

Everyone will meet Jabba the Hut, but a specific mission costs extra. When Star Wars Outlaws was shown off and given a release date last week, it was clear that Ubisoft is trying to lure buyers to the more expensive versions with exclusive content. The standard edition costs $69.99, but for an extra $40 for the Gold Edition or an extra $60 (as much as a full game) for the Ultimate Edition, you get to start playing three days before the real premiere, plus the season pass (and with the

Fallout doubles its player numbers on Steam (and you can probably guess why)

In the wake of the Fallout series on Amazon Prime, several Fallout games have "more than doubled" their Steam concurrent player stats (according to Steamdb). The series is of course an obvious reason, but Bethesda (coincidentally!) has also teased some games, and Fallout 76 is currently free to try for doom-seekers. That, Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas have all received major boosts. That's about doubled, tripled, yes, even quadrupled the numbers for the Fallout games. And there will

The Day Before studio shuts down due to "Out of money"

Four days after The Day Before was released in early access, developer Fntastic has run out of money. And that's why they are shutting down the business, the studio announced via X (Twitter). Fntastic writes that there are no financial means to continue operations. The income received must go to "partners". You don't say anything if you intend to refund money to those who bought the game. As before, Fntastic says that it did not make any money from the players during development. But r

Multiplayer mod for Starfield shut down because "the game is so fucking bad"

Modder Cosideci is the creator behind the incredibly acclaimed Skyrim Together, which is a mod that enables multiplayer in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. As soon as Starfield was released he immediately started working on a corresponding mod for it, but when around a week after release he actually sat down to play the game , he discovered something. This game is so fucking bad. I didn't realize it until after I actually started playing the Saber game a week after release. The game is boring a

"Florida Joker" wants Rockstar to pay him "a million or two"

The GTA VI trailer was released last week, a little earlier than planned even, and at the time of writing has nearly 140 million views on YouTube . But not everyone was completely satisfied with getting the first official look at almost part of Rockstar's hit franchise. Lawrence "Florida Joker" Sullivan is a man nicknamed for his Joker-inspired facial tattoos and (once upon a time) green-dyed hair, and now he's angry that a character in GTA VI possibly inspired by him and the "mug shot" whi

The Day Before failure, players are fleeing

It was heavily criticized in advance, but the question is whether The Day Before's worst time is now. Out of roughly 18,000 Steam reviews, 80 percent give the thumbs down for the early access release. Stupid AI, empty world and a bug fest are focal points of criticism. "Bad game, fun bugs", someone writes. "It turned out to be a real game. Wish in a way it wasn't like that", writes another. It should be said that this is (huge?)early access, but the large open world promised doesn't seem to

The Elder Scrolls: Castles is released out of nowhere - to mobile formats

Out of nowhere we get The Elder Scrolls: Castles mobile game. Although the game is only released for Android and in the US, a wider release is likely only a matter of time. The question is: when? It seems Bethesda adopted the surprise strategy with Fallout Shelter being announced and released at the same time - but here without an announcement? We don't even have a trailer to look at. Well. The key phrase is possibly "Fallout Shelter" because the screenshot below gives off such vibes. Readi

Starfield has been "deliberately made to be played for a long time"

That Starfield is "deliberately made to be played for a long time" sounds like a no-brainer. In fact, however, Todd Howard says this is a lesson Bethesda learned from feedback from Skyrim and Fallout . In the Game Maker's Notebook podcast , Howard tells Insomniac's Ted Price: It was important to Todd and company that it would feel natural to continue playing after the campaign, which Starfield's new game plus solution will ensure. (One you shouldn't google for spoiler reasons.) Howar

Sony erases traces of Star Wars: KotOR remake

The game shook the internet in September 2021, but since then we've been shaking for other reasons - and now we're shaking again. Sony seems to be working hard to wash away the traces of the remake. The trailer in Playstation's YouTube channel is set to private. On X/Twitter it is also reported that Sony has taken down all tweets about the game - except for one whe

Phil Spencer on Redfall fiasco: 'Takes full responsibility'

Want to ensure the quality of the company's games. After the low ratings for Redfall, "disappointment" is a recurring word when Phil Spencer joins us to talk about the game in Kinda Funny Games' video call. The Xbox boss says he understands buyers' disappointment and feels the same way. One of the issues touched on is that the game only runs at 30 frames per second on both Xbox consoles - that is, even on the more powerful Xbox Series X. 60 fps support will be patched in later, but Spe

Embracer has one, two, three, four, FIVE Lord of the Rings games in the works

In August, the vacuum cleaner Embracer Group announced that it was taking over Middle-Earth Enterprises, giving the Karlstad company the right to the brand The Lord of the Rings. And in the latest quarterly report, the mouthpiece has been put in the blowout end, because there we are told that five - yes, five - Lord of the Rings games will be released in the financial years 2023 and 2024. The games are made by external studios, and these are not five completely unannounced titles. And just

Dead Island 2 shows off its impressive gore system

In the latest video, two developers from Dambuster Studios talk about the FLESH system, which enables procedural damage to the zombies we attack in the game. In short, this means that the zombies have clothes, skin, fat, muscles, bones and internal organs that are exposed and torn apart in a realistic way depending on the weapon we attack with and how we

DC universe to use same actors for games and movies - criticized by former Batman Arkham developers

James Gunn is the relatively new CEO (along with Peter Safran) of DC Studios. He has previously said that future DC games will be part of the same DC universe as upcoming movies and TV series. Now the plans are further fleshed out and in a presentation regarding the company's future (thanks, VGC) plans to use the same actors, regardless of the medium concerned, are confirmed. "DCU is connected in film, television, gaming, and animation. Characters are consistent, played by the same actors,

Crystal Dynamics abandons Marvel's Avengers

Marvel's Avengers was released in 2020 by Crystal Dynamics and was supposed to be a so-called live Serivce venture for all superhero fans. Instead, the game received mostly poor reviews from both the press and the players. Criticism was directed at the pay model and loot boxes in the game, but also for tiresome game mechanics and an uninspiring single-player campaign. The developers have tried to fix the problems and continue to release content, but as of September this year, support for the gam

The class system returns to Battlefield 2042 this month

Battlefield 2042 received a lot of criticism when it was released last fall, not least because the fixed player classes were replaced with specialists who could act as just about anything. The return of the classes will happen when the game is updated to 3.2, which will be already this month. In concrete terms, the specialists will be
