  1. Once upon a time, deities fought over the continent of Icarus. The benevolent Tetheus has won, and the evil Ercanet was banished. However, things only got worse afterwards, as Ercanet was unable to forgive the humans for supporting Tetheus. He corrupted the souls of people and populated the continent with terrifying beasts, acting through his emissary, the wizard Colias. The Coshark mercenaries tried to oppose Colias, but only one of them, a young man named Dreus, survived. Together with his fiancee Helena, Dreus embarks on a quest to stop the evil and restore peace.
Like many Korean RPGs, Icarus: Sanctuary of the Gods has many elements from Japanese-style RPGs. The narrative is character-driven; various characters join the party over the course of the story, playing their own parts in it. Story advancement is quite linear. The game's visual style is reminiscent of Japanese manga and anime. Combat is turn-based, taking place on large screens, on which the player navigates the characters and assigns commands to them.

  5. In The Flintstones: Bedrock Bowling, Fred Flintstone is toiling away as usual at his thankless construction job. When it's quitting time, his boss threatens him with summary termination if he does not finish his trench-digging assignment by the next morning. The biggest dilemma for Fred is that he needs to practice for an upcoming bowling tournament. The benevolent alien named The Great Gazoo materializes and solves the problem by digging a trench and lining it with giant bowling pins. He then gives Fred a large bowling ball half shell in which to play live action bowling.
The action in Bedrock Bowling takes the form of steering the bowling shell down 8 different lanes. Each lane has 10 pins that the player must try to hit. Additionally, there are many diamonds, birds, and other powerups along the way to be collected for points.
The 8 lanes are Gravel Factory, Quarry, Flooded, Tar, Freeway, Crystal Mine, Lava, and Rockzilla.

  13. Maze Wars is a decent 3D maze game that is by no means revolutionary, but deserves mention as one of the first 3D maze mouse-driven games that I quite like 😉 The objective is simple: find the exit to the maze, while shooting monsters who get in your way. The game is timed, making it quite challenging on higher levels (especially beyond level 3). The game includes 11 levels in total, although they are all very similar except for maze size and the number of monsters (which all appear as floating polygons). One nice feature of the game is that it allows you to change the colors of everything: monsters, walls, floor etc. One gripe I have with the game is that the controls take some getting used to: instead of using mouse buttons for firing weapons, the game instead forces you to press them for movement (left = forward and right = backward). You need to press both mouse buttons at once to shoot -- a quirk I found quite annoying at first, but it didn't take long to get used to. The animations are quite smooth, and the action fast and furious.
Overall, recommended for fans of maze games who want more challenge than typical maze games. Make sure you use a slowdown program to run this one, though.

  14. The original Kick Off was expanded on in many ways for this sequel. The game now features full tournament modes (although the players on the teams are fictitious) and four different pitches (including an implementation of plastic pitches, whose uneven bounce cause controversy when several British clubs tried them in the 1980s).
Viewed top-down, the controls involve trapping the ball under your foot, giving you time to prepare passes. Running with the ball is tricky at first, as it doesn't stick to your foot the way it did in contemporary football games. Complex moves such as overhead kicks, back-heels and long-range through-ball passes can be completed with practice.

  15. Mario is a legendary game whose history dates back to 1981, when the character of Mario has been introduced in another famous game - Donkey Kong. Mario has become quite a popular and so Nintendo made many games dedicated just to him. The first came immediately in 1983, but the most famous game about Mario is named: Mario Super Mario Bros. (In the game you can also play for Mario's brother - Luigi). The storyline is absolutely the greatest classics: evil Bowser has kidnapped the princess and now it's up to Mario and Luigi to save her. Mario need no introduction, he is very well-known by the smallest ones even nowadays, so only in short: Mario is a small guy, but he grow in height, when he eats one kind of Mushroom. On his route to save the princess, he will come across carnivorous flowers, strange creatures, and turtles. You have to try to kill, but sometimes you need to use them to your advantage: for example, to move further, you have to skillfully jump and stand on a turtle. The game is also known for its bonus levels, where you can get entering green tubes, so you take a shorter way and also get some bonus points. Individual levels are quite diverse (starting in a sort of nature, in the second round underground, then get into the channels, and the like).

  16. ilmarils' first action / adventure game is a great game of exploration and survival that sets the stage for many more survival games to come. As intrepid explorer, buy equipments and tools and head into the wild Yucatan jungles to find the mysterious Mayan fetish.
The side-scrolling view changes to a cool 3D view when you drive the jeep, adding variety to the fun-but-frustratingly-difficult gameplay that combines arcade action with traditional puzzle-solving in the Mayan temples.

  17. Many popular RPGs were inspired by real board games and so was the game Hero Quest. Hero Quest is a combination of RPG and strategy game where you control a total of 4 characters and you always have a limited number of moves that are assigned by random - roll of the dice. You control a total of 4 heroes (barbarian, dwarf, elf and wizard), but you do not have to choose all four. However, a larger number of characters will increase your chances of winning battles. The gameplay is a classic. You go through the various rooms, have to avoid pitfalls, try to equipp your characters with higher quality weapons and fight against different fantasy enemies. The game had great ideas that creators managed to pass from board to the PC gaming world, but the game also contains a number of rather illogical errors, that sometimes make the gameplay worse. For example, your character can not sell and change the weapons between themselfs. Once you take the weapon, you can not lay it down. Despite the many shortcomings that can be found in the game, the game is very entertaining combination of strategy and RPG game format and I recommend it to every RPG fan out there.

  21. SimAnt was released by Maxis and is part of the Sim series. In the nineties, several Sim like games were created, Sim Ant is a ant colony simulator.
You have to manage your ants by digging tunnels, find food, protect the queen, expand your territory, fight against many enemies, including the evil red ants ! The conquest of the whole garden and the house will make you victorious.
The game was a hit with more than 100,000 copies sold and was released on many platform. SimAnt was included in the SimClassic pack.
This was one of the few games that the early pirate groups actively encouraged the "if you like it, buy it!" dogma. When it came out, it actually outsold SimCity and the various cosmetic packs, and there was almost no negativity seen in the reviews published in the plethora of trade rags at the time. Even PC Week gave it an excellent review, and those choads back then were notorious for hating anything that wasn't Lotus 1-2-3.

  23. The third entry in the Kick Off series is the first that offers an isometric view instead of the old top-down view. In the game, there are four competitions (World Cup Finals, League, Knock Out Cup and the challenge). There are several options for game speed and ball control to suit both novice and skilled gamers. Each of the 32 teams in the game has a distinct style of play, ensuring that no two games are alike. Each team also has "key players", such as Liberos and Wingers, who play a pivotal role in how that team plays. Kick Off 3 offers two styles of play: Arcade and Simulation. The difference is that in the Arcade mode you can switch off rules to focus purely on reflexes.

  24. An okay game based on the 1994 Winter Olympics tournament at Lillehammer, Winter Olympics by US Gold includes a decent variety of events, but not nearly as good as Accolade's better-known-although-without-official-license Winter Challenge.
The graphics are adequate, but gameplay options are lacking: you can't practice in any event before the tournament since the game offers only 2 options: "Full Olympics" and "Mini Olympics." The events are fairly standard (e.g. skiing, shooting), but they are much more difficult than Accolade's game due to awkward and unresponsive control schemes. Some events are notably better than others -- perhaps a result of them being coded by different programmers.
Overall, Winter Olympics is a decent game that is worth a look for Olympics fans, but won't hold anyone's interest for long.

  25. Possibly the dryest Sim- game Maxis ever made, SimHealth puts you in control of the U.S.health care system-- evidently Maxis felt that the heated debates during the 1996 presidential election would induce many fans to try their hands at the subject 😉
Despite its commercial failure, SimHealth is a solid simulation that really gives different (if perhaps not "realistic") results of your decision. Want to cut insurance or increase family medicine practice? Here's your chance-- with the end goal of getting re-elected again when the time comes.
