  1. Rumors of a smaller, more traditional (a.k.a. more stealth, less action RPG) Assassin's Creed have been rife for a while, and we're allegedly set in Baghdad. The rumor mill picks up speed when Youtube profile j0nathan claims that the game we previously knew as Rift will be called Assassin's Creed Mirage. The release for the game, which "goes back to the origin", is due sometime this spring. Rumors are always rumors and should be taken at face value, but they are persistent in this case. The omniscient Jason Schreier also takes the opportunity to confirm some of the new rumors, while dismissing others. Schreier believes that parts of this are true, while he claims that the chance to explore "multiple cities" is not. We'll see who's right. You will find all thistles and tassels below. J0nathan also claims that a remake of the first game is in the works, and will take advantage of Mirage.
  2. We have to wait longer for some sequels than others. In a press release, Paradox reveals that Victoria 3 will be released on October 25, which means twelve years after the second and nineteen years after Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun. There is time to build up reasonably high requirements during that time. Up to the proof! The grand strategy game takes us from 1836 all the way to 1936. The Victorian era is considered strict, ornate and rule-heavy. Proven breeding ground for successful strategy twice before. The nice thing, of course, is that it's up to you to write about the historical century - over and over again.
  3. Valve has made a booklet with information about and around the Steam Deck, and in it there is quite a lot of information. Anyone who worries that today’s Steam Deck will be a one-time story can hopefully breathe a sigh of relief when Valve outlines a product that will span “several generations”. Gaming on Linux noted the following as written by Valve: "Steam Deck represents the first in a new category of Steam handheld gaming PC’s. In the future, Valve will follow up on this product with improvements and iterations to hardware and software, bringing new versions of Steam Deck to market. The information is not very concrete, but at least a vague promise that there is more to come. It’s not inconceivable that Valve envisions more frequent updates than console generations.
  4. Dual Universe from Novaquark is approaching release-worthy condition. After eight years of development, it is announced that the game will be released on September 27, and those of you who haven’t caught the beta that has been running for two years will get a chance to feel this sandbox MMO in space. The game emphasizes that freedom is important, and the players themselves create the content. They can build ships, houses, space stations, and everything in the world can be modified. On September 22, the servers will be taken down to prepare for the release five days later. Then a trial version is also released so that you can test what it is all about free of charge. Dual Universe is subscription based. Not very common in today’s MMO context, but it is needed to fund the common server that all players play on. A month costs 10 euros, and if you run a year in one go, the price drops to 7 euros a month. And a trial version is underway.
  5. Mutated dinosaurs are the main antagonists in Second Extinction , the fps game where three people fight together in the best Left 4 Dead style for their survival. And the release is approaching - on October 20, the game will be released. This is the second title from Systemic Reaction, one of three developers under the Swedish Avalanche Studios. They debuted in 2019 with the heavily 80s-smelling Generation Zero. Hopefully Second Extinction gets a warmer reception. It's coming to PC and Xbox.
  6. According to Bloomberg, Netflix is considering charging between $7-9 for the upcoming ad-supported subscription. The goal is to attract subscribers who think Netflix costs too much and can imagine watching advertising in exchange for a lower monthly cost. The source also writes that Netflix aims to show about four minutes of advertising per hour. The information comes from people who are supposed to have insight into Netflix's plans. The advertising will be shown before and during films and series - but not after. Bloomberg writes that Netflix wants to avoid frustrating customers, for example by not showing the same ads time and time again. The advertising is also claimed to be less targeted, so that most customers will see the same ads. Netflix has said that the new subscription is expected to be generally available in early 2023. Microsoft will handle the advertising. According to an analysis company, the subscription with advertising could generate a total of 8.5 billion dollars for Netflix annually. The sum includes revenue from the subscription itself and from advertising.
  7. Earlier this year we found out that Sony is working with Netflix on a series based on the Horizon games. We weren't given a lot of information at the time, but gaming journalist Jeff Grubb claimed shortly thereafter that the series was then called Horizon 2074 and is meant to run parallel to the games, rather than being a reinterpretation, sequel, or prequel. We don't know what the situation is with these details, as they are only rumors, but now we have received a small piece of very significant information. According to an interview with Netflix, Steve Blackman - executive producer of The Umbrella Academy - will lead the production of the series. When asked what he is most looking forward to in the story, he answers the well-developed world and the fantastic characters, and above all confirms that Aloy is the main character in the Netflix series as well. We don't have any dates to go on at the moment, and it will probably be a while before filming even starts.
  8. You probably haven't missed that Minecraft is going to get a spinoff in the likes of action strategy, right? Well, Minecraft Legends was announced in June, and from what little we got to see, it looked like an interesting concept. Now a new trailer has arrived that is as fiery as it is grisly. Pigs invade the overworld and devour everything in their path, and it falls to the player to lead golems and other classic Minecraft creatures in the battle against them. This is not done with the help of classic real-time strategy, but instead in the form of an action and strategy hybrid where we, as the main character, ride around and lead our troops. This means that we can attack the enemies ourselves while giving orders - a bit like in Overlord and similar games. Minecraft Legends is being developed by Mojang and Blackbird Interactive – who are also working on Homeworld 3 – and will be released in 2023 for PC, Playstation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as being included in Game Pass.
  9. Netflix's Resident Evil series has endured a lot of criticism. Most criticism has and to do with it has very little to do with the video game series and is more of a teen drama. The series premiered on July 14th and rushed straight into the top 10, but fell away rather quickly after the criticism. Although the series did not follow the storyline from the games, iconic monsters and characters from the video game series appeared, but in different guises. The most positive criticism was received by the actor Lance Riddick for his portrayal of Albert Wesker. Even though Lance doesn't look like Wesker in the games, most people agree that he did a good acting job. The scriptwriters had big plans for the series such as introducing the gigantic giantess Lady Dimitrescu. But now it won't be like that, Netflix simply cuts off the head of Resident Evil and lets it rot away. Would you like a new season of Resident Evil?
  10. EA has pulled the wraps off the next content update for Battlefield 2042 . The name will be Season Two - Master of Arms and already on August 30 it will be released. On Tuesday next week, that is. In terms of content, a new map, Stranded, is offered. There is an oil tanker stranded on the dried-up seabed, and there malevolent forces have established a weapons depot. A short film shows a stranded freighter on a dried-up lake bed in Panama. Tight battles indoors, waiting behind boxes and cartons. In addition, three new weapons, a stun grenade, two vehicles and a new specialist named Charlie Crawford are included. He acts as support for the team, with the ability to revive teammates and conjure up a minigun with a shield when needed. This can be used by anyone - friend or foe. Finally, there will be some weapons and other things to unlock in BF Portal. The first season update was released in June and was a bit of a vitamin injection for the then struggling game. The number of players grew significantly, and while these are not dream numbers (6,000 Steam players at the time of writing, according to Steam Charts), the increase is still there two months later. Hopefully, Season Two will have the same effect on both the number of players and their mood.
  11. The role-playing game Wyrdsong was unveiled with a trailer during yesterday's Gamescom stream. It's an open world RPG with supernatural elements, and the trailer voice hints at an unpleasant experience. It takes place in a medieval Portugal and is powered by the game engine Unreal Engine 5. But much more than that, the developers have not revealed, not even what platforms it is made for. But perhaps most interesting is the developer - Something Wicked Games. It was founded by Charles Staples ( Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds ), is led by Jeff Gardiner ( Skyrim, Fallout 3, 4 and 76 ) and has employees with experience from Bethesda, Bioware and Obsidian. In other words, a decent roleplaying track record. How good Wyrdsong will be is impossible to tell from this short first teaser video. But a game worth keeping an eye on, for sure.

With a couple of Might & Magics and Tropico 6 under his belt, Limbic doesn't have a roller-coaster habit, but despite this, there's something obvious about Park Beyond. It feels natural for the Planet Coaster - and Theme Park -experienced to pick up, and in a genre that deals with tricks and tricks, this is a nice plus on the edge. Count on the old tricks of (literally) salting fries to (figuratively) salt the prices of soft drinks. This and all the other things we recognize are not why Park Beyond attracts. It's the story campaign and making the impossible possible that will make Limbic's funfair ride something more than a trivial Theme Park clone. The "impossible possible" has a catchy name: Impossification. Something I myself get to squeeze and feel when I build a roller coaster in the middle of a colorful small town. Laying out hills and motion-sickness-inducing curves is exemplary easy, and soon the track is winding through stately parks and over rooftops. This is where Park Beyond takes us beyond the possible. You can choose between either building a cannon, which shoots the carts through the air to land at breakneck speed on the other side. Or trust nature's own speed and fan laws, and let the carts whiz freely over houses, people and livestock via a downhill slope and a carefully placed "bump". Dip your management toes into the sandbox mode and "impose" a rather ordinary octopus carousel that is expanded with a deep pool that the visitors repeatedly dip into. Employees can also be "impossified", and Limbic tempts, for example, with mechanics on hoverboards. Well, it's definitely quite possible that Park Beyond will be really fun. For a very long time Planet Coaster has been a natural choice, only catch with that title is the lack of content and the fact that the developer hide core game mechanics and attractions behind expensive DLC's. We look forward to see more of Park Beyond and can't wait for the release next year.
  13. The fight to make Battlefield 2042 something that players actually want continues at Dice, and one news that will be welcomed by many is that they plan to introduce a class system and thus make it more like previous games in the series. Currently, there is no such system, but instead there are different specialists to choose from. In a video update, they say that the game's second season is almost here and that they have big plans for the coming months. They have analyzed the "polarizing feedback" about the Specialists and decided that in season three they will be moved into a more classic class system. Existing specialists will thus be categorized as Assault, Recon, Support or Engineer, and all will have access to the abilities and equipment that belong to the class in question. In addition to that, there are further improvements to maps to, among other things, give infantry a better chance and ensure that players get to the battles faster, as well as new material, including the new map that the second season includes.
  14. No more shopping Embracer titles... The dictatorship's money pays for 8.1 percent of the shares. Embracer Group receives 10.3 billion new in their the account. The Swedish Karlstad-based gaming company has released 99.9 million new B shares, which it sold to the Saudi Arabian Savvy Gaming Group. Savvy is funded by the Public Investment Fund, a government fund where the country's controversial crown prince and leader Mohammed bin Salman sits on the board. The deal gives Savvy 8.1 percent of the shares and 5.4 percent of the votes in Embracer. This makes the Saudi company one of the largest owners behind founder Lars Wingefors, who at the turn of the year held 24.2 percent of the company's shares and just over 43 percent of the votes. Embracer CEO and founder Lars Wingefors: "Our relationship with Savvy Gaming Group will enable us to set up a regional hub in Saudi Arabia, where we will be able to carry out investments in the MENA region, either organically, through partnerships, joint ventures or through the acquisition of companies led by strong contractors. Savvy was formed at the beginning of the year and immediately hit the headlines by buying Dreamhack owner ESL for $13 billion. In May, it became clear that PIF had bought 5 percent of the Japanese gaming giant Nintendo . Embracer emphasizes in the press release that it wants long-term investments in the company. Savvy invests in entering the gaming and esports community worldwide. But the company's ventures are controversial because the fund that finances the company is controlled by Crown Prince bin Salman, who has been accused, among other things, of ordering the murder of a prominent journalist in 2018. The country has also been criticized for a lack of human rights, both during the crown prince's rule and before.
  15. "Was it always this chaotic?" wonders a seagull in the opening moments of the trailer for Cities: Skylines' upcoming expansion. It goes by the name Plazas & Promenades (that is, the expansion, not the seagull), and just as the name suggests, it revolves around places where you can use your legs to get around, rather than a car. There are walking paths, market squares and regular zones as well as streets where cars are simply prohibited. Other news includes street music to increase the happiness in the pedestrian zone (on the other hand, it also counts as noise). If you instead want to reduce the residents' happiness, you can introduce a sugar ban, which increases their lifespan. There are also three new district specializations: office buildings, high-density residential and high-density commercial zones, with 24 new associated buildings. The price lands at €14.99 and the expansion should be released "soon". Otherwise, the game is going like a train, and celebrated twelve million copies sold a couple of months ago.
