video CD Projekt expects “between 350 and 500” developers for Cyberpunk 2
This week vague but big CD Projekt news was revealed , with five Witcher games and a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. Project Orion is the code name for the latter. It will have multiplayer and the development will mainly take place in the USA. Many, many people will be working on the game.
Piotr Nielubowicz, CFO of CD Projekt, estimates that it could be up to 500 people.
"As for the total headcount required for such a production, I believe the best reference is Cyberpunk 2077, our most recent release and a good reference point when thinking about development headcount and future projects of this scale. I think it’s safe to assume that between 350 and 500 developers should be required.
He made the statement in connection with a meeting with investors (thanks, IGN ). The estimate is probably spread across the Warsaw studio and the US offices. After the Phantom Liberty expansion, which will be released in 2023, the burden of moving will largely go to Boston – where the development of Cyberpunk 2 will mainly take place. Very likely a lot of new blood will join there soon.
