  5. Netflix's The Witcher series has been a contentious production, to say the least. Although it has its audience, large groups of fans seem to really loathe it. Additionally, there have been reports and allegations of behind-the-scenes fights, which many assume is the reason why Henry Cavill decided to hang up the wolf medallion and leave the role of Geralt of Rivia behind. As a result, Liam Hemsworth will take over the monster-slaying task for the upcoming season four. But it looks like we won't see Hemsworth portraying Geralt anytime soon, as a new report from Redanian Intelligence (a long-time site covering all things The Witcher) says the series is coming to an end with its fifth season. It is said that work has currently resumed on writing the script for the fourth season, and once that has been completed, the script for the fifth season will also be written, as the plan is to produce these two seasons at the same time. Due to the strikes, filming on season four is said to start in the first half of 2024, before then take a break before production on season five starts. Netflix still hasn't greenlit the fifth season of The Witcher, and the report reads: "Season 5 is very likely the final season of The Witcher on Netflix." Were you hoping for more?
  6. The storm surrounding the long-awaited Aquaman sequel continues, and according to recently leaked documents obtained by Variety, there are many indications that Elon Musk played a crucial role in the film's production. Without him, Amber Heard would most likely have been fired and cut out of history. But even before the legal battle between Depp and Heard took place, it is claimed that her role was in jeopardy. Reason? That it just didn't click between her and Jason Momoa. So when Warner, despite all the negativity and pressure, chose to keep the actress, many people were surprised. Now, however, we may have the answer to the mystery, and why Warner allowed her to stay. Apparently, the ex-boyfriend Elon Musk has interfered and threatened legal action - to "burn down the house" so to speak, in a really angry letter that was sent to Warner. Which obviously seems to have done the trick.
  7. Torture was a common practice in ancient Rome, especially during interrogations. Until the second century CE, torture was used only on slaves (with a few exceptions). After this period, torture also concerned the lower social strata. The slave’s testimony was considered true under Roman law only during torture. It was thought that they could not be trusted and that they had to be intentionally “tried” ¹. Some of the most common torture techniques used by ancient Romans include: Crucifixion: A form of death penalty used in ancient times, including by Persians, Romans, Phoenicians and Carthaginians, as a form of shameful execution on slaves, rebels and other non-full citizens. Only a low-level citizen (humiliores) could be sentenced to such death – in the event of a serious crime, e.g. betrayal of his own country. The convict was then tied or nailed to a large wooden cross and left there until his death. It was an unusually long and painful death ¹. Damnatio ad bestias: A form of capital punishment where the condemned person is killed by wild animals in front of a large audience in an arena. This punishment was usually reserved for those who committed crimes against the state or religion ¹. Boiling in oil: The victim was immersed in boiling oil until they died ². Molten gold poured down the throat: This method involved pouring molten gold down the victim's throat until they died ². Death by parasites: The victim was tied up and left outside to be eaten alive by insects and other parasites ². Please note that these methods are extremely brutal and are not condoned by modern society.
  8. Freelancer (Win) Repack by MagiPack (includes Jason's Freelancer Patch v1.25) Freelancer is a direct sequel to Microsoft’s mission-based space combat simulator Starlancer. However, unlike its predecessor Freelancer combines combat and trading within an open world environment. Due to the involvement of Wing Commander's creator Chris Roberts it is largely considered to be the spiritual successor to Origin Systems’ Wing Commander: Privateer. Set 800 years after the events of Starlancer, the game revolves around the adventures of freelance pilot Edison Trent, survivor of an attack on the space station Freeport 7. Having lost the deal of a lifetime (worth a million credits) in the attack, Trent teams up with Jun'ko ‘Juni’ Zane, of the Liberty Security Force, and together they begin to investigate events connected to the attack. While the story progresses through the completion of specific storyline missions, Trent is free to spend time exploring, trading, or even smuggling. He also has the option of taking freelance combat missions offered by the many factions that inhabit the 48 star systems within the game. The star systems themselves are beautifully detailed. A vast range of planets await exploration, along with brightly burning stars, nebulas, treacherous asteroid fields and vast expanses of space junk (often home to hostile outcasts). One striking feature of Freelancer is the way it is controlled. A joystick is not required as the game is keyboard and mouse driven. Keys control the forward movement of the ship while moving the mouse with the left button held down allows the ship to change direction. At the same time the targeting crosshair is dragged across the screen by the movement of the mouse and the right mouse button is then used to fire the ship’s guns. This works surprisingly well making it an instantly accessible game. File Information Submitter [[Template core/front/global/userLink is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. 9. Out of nowhere we get The Elder Scrolls: Castles mobile game. Although the game is only released for Android and in the US, a wider release is likely only a matter of time. The question is: when? It seems Bethesda adopted the surprise strategy with Fallout Shelter being announced and released at the same time - but here without an announcement? We don't even have a trailer to look at. Well. The key phrase is possibly "Fallout Shelter" because the screenshot below gives off such vibes. Reading the official description, we learn that the game… Quote ...puts you in control of your very own castle and dynasty. Oversee your subjects as the years pass, families grow, and new rulers take the throne. There are, of course, a number of question marks to be resolved. It also remains to be seen if the game makes a similar journey to Fallout Shelter, which was released for both PC and consoles within a few years.
  10. That Starfield is "deliberately made to be played for a long time" sounds like a no-brainer. In fact, however, Todd Howard says this is a lesson Bethesda learned from feedback from Skyrim and Fallout . In the Game Maker's Notebook podcast , Howard tells Insomniac's Ted Price: It was important to Todd and company that it would feel natural to continue playing after the campaign, which Starfield's new game plus solution will ensure. (One you shouldn't google for spoiler reasons.) Howard adds that games that tend to be played for longer periods of time indirectly become "live games" in a way. The players keep the games alive by playing them, and the developers provide them with new content and keep the interest alive. It becomes a kind of cycle. It remains to be seen how long-lived Starfield will be. That it will live for a long time, yes, we take that for granted.
