Good news for anyone who has Battlefield friends spread across multiple platforms: Dice plans to build and test cross-play for Battlefield 2042 so people on different platforms can play with and against each other. Unfortunately, this also means that the technical, closed alpha test will be postponed until later this summer. During this test, they will test the cross-play functionality, and a few thousand players will be invited to play against each other on PC, Xbox Series X / S and Playstation 5. However, they point out that this is a relatively limited and controlled testing, and not in line with the open beta test that will be held later. In the final version of the game, they aim for players on PC, Xbox Series X / S and Playstation 5 to be able to play together, and for players on Xbox One and Playstation 4 to be able to play together. If you only want to play with people on the same console, you can also opt out of cross-play. Together with the bots that are to be included in the game, it will not be overly difficult to find servers to connect to. In addition to cross-play, the game also support cross-progression, which means that everything you unlock in e.g. The Playstation 5 version of the game will be available when you log in to the PC version.
Beta lets PC, PS4 and Xbox One bump into each other. Play the “Flashpoint” LTM, complete challenges, and get flashy new skins. On Tuesday, October 6, beta testing of crossplay in Apex Legends will begin. Players on all three platforms - PC, PS4, Xbox One - can play with and against each other. At the same time, new content is being launched, for example the time-limited game mode Flashpoint and some cosmetics. Crossplay is automatically enabled for all platforms, and even Steam will get it when the game is released there. Details on how things work can be found here . The promise of crossplay was given already in June, when Respawn also said that the game will come to Steam and Switch. Unknown when it happens.
