The release for Diablo IV is approaching, and is rumored to take place already in April. In the past, Blizzard has said that the adventure will take around 35 hours to complete – if you focus on the story. There is, of course, much more to see. In a new interview, Blizzard believes that the open world does not interfere with the story.
Rod Fergusson, general manager, tells IGN that their open world isn’t of the same caliber as, say, Zelda: Breath of the Wild . It’s not completely organic and you can’t go anywhere.
That’s not really our story. Our story allows for non-linearity, but there is a story – we wanted to have a beginning, middle, and end.
Fergusson says that you can take advantage of the story for a while with breaks for side missions. What is important to point out is that there is a beginning, middle and end – and a more open world around it.
