In early 2017, The Swedish based game developer studio Massive confirmed that they are making a game based on the world from the Avatar movie. Since the announcement however, there has been silence about the game, perhaps a direct effect of the film sequels being repeatedly postponed.
Last out during tonight's Ubisoft Forward, however, was a first trailer from Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which will be released in 2022 for PC, Stadia, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series. No Old-gen.
The trailer was definitely not gameplay-like, and therefore it remains to be seen what kind of game Frontiers of Pandora will be. A first-person action adventure according to the press release! Avatar 2 will probably premiere in December 2022, so it would be reasonable if the adventure game becomes part of that. It remains to see.
Massive has recently also confirmed that they are making a open world game of Star Wars. Busy busy...
