Hyper Scape is Ubisoft’s attempt to delve into the lucrative but oh so cramped battle royale slant. The game was released as recently as August for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, but in a joint statement from the team, they say that their highest expectations have not been met.
While July’s launch and open beta on PC were successful, we were not able to achieve the high expectations we set for ourselves with our full release on console that followed in August. We also know we did not fully meet the high expectations of our players, so we are taking action.
The game’s “full potential” must be reached by attacking five points. The ceiling for mastering Hyper Scape is high, but the team believes that the entrance to the game places too high demands; too difficult to aim, chase and injure players. In addition, Ubisoft says that the game does not treat newcomers very well, who do not get the chance to learn. The game’s main mode, crown rush, is unforgivable, says Ubisoft, and they are planning a respawn system. Furthermore, they want to introduce crossplay earlier.
Finally, the team says that they want to give the players more long-term goals to strive for. In season two (just here), rankings are introduced and the promise is that this will be followed by even more in the future.
Season two begins on October 6 for all formats.
